South America is a fascinating place, but I have a lot to learn. Everything is so different,
and I am trying to adapt to the new way of life here. I am learning a little bit of Spanish
to make communication easier; unfortunately, I don’t learn foreign languages quickly. I
still don’t understand much, but I believe that I am improving.
I am currently traveling with Christopher, a student from Cambridge University, in
England. He is a nice guy, but a little impatient sometimes. He always walks ahead of me
and complains that I am too slow. Maybe, I am feeling sorry for myself because I am
getting old.
Right now, Christopher is sitting with the owner of the B&B*. They are discussing he
differences between life in Europe and life in South America. I don’t know the real name
of the owner, but everybody calls him Chico. Chico speaks English very well and he is
trying to teach Christopher some words in Spanish. Every time Chico says a new word,
Christopher tries to repeat it. Unfortunately, Christopher also seems to have difficulty
learning foreign languages. I just hope we don't get lost and have to ask for directions.
