Regulatory Received New Tariff Order for the year FY 2009-10 for Generation, Transmission and Distribution in Mumbai Licensed Area

ATE judgement dated 15th july 2009 upholds all the four issues appealed in favour of the company whose impact is factored in Q1 FY10 Accounts

Services During this quarter the Services Group bagged three contracts (one for O&M Services, one for Project Management Services and one for HV GIS testing)

Distribution During this quarter, Tata Power added 1615 customers taking its total customer base to 27620

CSR Tata Power has won TERI award for their contribution in Healthcare especially for volunteering work in the area of spreading awareness towards HIV/AIDS

Trombay Receipt of Regasified LNG (RLNG) from GAIL started on 1st May 2009 for Trombay Thermal Power Plants

Tata Power s Q1 FY 10 PAT up 98% at Rs. 377.08 Crores

PAT after Statutory appropriations up 144% at Rs. 396.97 Crores

Revenues at Rs. 2015.62 Crores as compared to 2026.13 Crores last year mainly due to the decrease in the fuel prices in Mumbai Licence Area as compared to the corresponding quarter last year.

Generation up by 8% at 4260 MUs as compared to 3935 MUs last year

Sales volume rose by 2% at 4180 MUs against 4115 MUs in the corresponding period last year

Safety : AN AREA OF CONCERN

Accidents : Six reportable lost time injuries including two fatalities

Training : 1.16 Training Mandays as % of Total Mandays worked achieved as against plan of 1.00

Capability Building : Du Pont conducted two training session for training of trainerson Standards and Procedures

Contractor Safety Management : The six step CSM process has been issued for company wide adoption

Incident Reporting and Investigation and Safety Audits : Software made operational in LA and planned for deployment in Eastern Region in Q2 FY10

• Operation and Maintenance Contract with OPG Power limited for its 1 X 80 MW coal based thermal power plant at Gummidipoondi, Chennai

• Project Management Service Contract with OPG Gujarat Limited for its 2 X 150 MW coal fired Thermal Power Plants at Bhadreshwar in Kutch District of Gujarat

• HV GIS Testing Services for 3 sub stations

Growth Portfolio :Renewable Heavy• Focus on Hydros , wind , solar and geothermal.• Mine linked coal projects also being evaluated.

Corporate Sustainability Report has been prepared as per the GRI Guidelines.

Sustainable Lifestyle Guidelines issued. Our own mindset is key to success.

Procurement Policy encouraging sustainable practices amongst suppliers to be issued shortly.

Key Progress

• Unit 1 TG Deck has been cast and erection of boiler steam tubes is in progress. Chimney shell casting is nearing completion

• Unit 2 TG Deck column casting is complete and staging for deck is in progress. Boiler pressure part erection is in progress. Chimney shell has achieved 60 mtrs height

• Unit 3 TG column casting is in progress and Boiler pressure part erection is in progress

• Foundation work for Unit 4 and 5 are in progress

Ordering for all packages has been completed

Key Progress

• Unit 1 Boiler Drum lifting, TG Deck casting, switchyard work of tower and gantry erection and conductor stringing has been completed.

• Unit 2 Boiler Drum has been dispatched to site, Boiler and ESP erection are in progress

Projects :Jamshedpur : 120 MW Power House 6 was synchronized end Mar 09 and is currently operated at 90 MW load. COD in Q2 FY10

Haldia : 30 MW Unit 3 synchronized on 22nd July 2009 Cod in Q2 FY10

Jojobera : 120 MW Unit 5 ,Hydro test for boiler and chimney shell construction has been completed. Erection of Cooling Tower, ESP structure, Switchyard are in progress

Naraj Marthapur Project : Land acquisition is in progress

Dehrand Project : Land acquisition is in progress

Jharkhand : Land acquisition is in progress

Lodhivali Project : Sale of 6 DG Sets completed. Conversion to Natural Gas for remaining project being planned.

Tubed / Mandakini Coal blocks : Approval process under work.

Rajmahal / Tatapani CBM block : Exploration continuous.
