Our District Goals, 2019-20 Lenora Hanna, 2019-20 NE-IA District Governor
Goal 1: Strengthen the existing clubs and open new clubs
• Number one priority is to strengthen membership in existing clubs. • Meet personally with clubs having 15 and under membership along with their Division
Lt. Governor. • Offer and conduct Membership Blitzes throughout District; goal at least one per month. • Support and nurture all clubs so they can be healthy and growing. • Encourage more sharing of ideas for projects and fundraisers through the District newsletters and
District website. • Open three new clubs and two satellites of existing clubs (to attract interested people who cannot
meet at the regular club time).
Goal 2: Ensure volunteer leaders at all levels are well prepared and trained
• Promote in person Club Leadership Education (CLE) or on-line if unable to attend scheduled CLE. • Create and encourage officer on-line training within the first month for new clubs. • Create and offer general Kiwanis information to new members within first month of membership. • Promote and encourage club strategic plans. • Promote and encourage the knowledge of Past Lt. Governors and Past Governors to help with a
succession plan for all leaders on the club, division, and district level. Goal 3: Promote the overall use of technology
• Encourage all clubs to use Portal Buzz for monthly reporting, newsletters, club websites and social media.
• Promote proper branding on apparel and when creating a brochure, website or social media post. Goal 4: Grow Service Leadership Programs
• Encourage more clubs to sponsor or co-sponsor a Service Leadership Program. They are our future Kiwanians!
• Support the Key Leader program and Camp OK. Goal 5: Support our District wide project to Alleviate Childhood Hunger
• Promote sharing of ideas and encourage clubs to add a hunger service project if they do not have one.
Goal 6: Encourage all members and clubs to help meet our District’s pledge of
$3.5 for the Eliminate Project.
LET’S BE PROUD TO BE KIWANIANS!

NEBRASKA-IOWA DISTRICT
On Jan. 6, 1920, the Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis District was organized as the Western Iowa Dis-
trict at a meeting in Des Moines. There were three clubs already formed -- Lincoln, Omaha and
Des Moines. Twenty-one more clubs were built that first year.
The first governor was A.R. Edmiston of Lincoln and W. Lincoln Burn of Omaha was the first sec-
retary-treasurer.
On May 29, 1922, the name of the district was formally changed to Nebraska-Iowa.

Special Fellowship for District’s 100th
In celebration of the Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis District’s 100th anniversary, a very special Fellowship is available
this year from the Nebraska-Iowa District Foundation. The Raymond Crossman District Centennial Fellowship
fully embraces the history, dedication and distinguished service of this great District.
Raymond Crossman, a member of the Omaha Club, was elected Kiwanis International President in 1930 and
became the first international president from the Nebraska-Iowa District. He was also chairman of the Kiwanis
International Committee on Laws and Regulations and served on the Constitutional Convention Committee that
drafted the Six Objects of Kiwanis.
President Crossman established the District's role as a Kiwanis leader and it is in his honor the fellowship has
been established for the District’s centennial year.
The Fellowship has two purposes:
1. To recognize and identify members of the District in the Centennial year
2. To position the Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis District Foundation for a new century of robust support for the Clubs
in the Nebraska-Iowa District
The Fellowship will only be available from Oct. 1, 2019 to Sept. 30, 2020 to Kiwanians of the Nebraska-Iowa
District. The commitment of the Fellowship for all recipients shall be a $500 donation to the Nebraska-Iowa Ki-
wanis District Foundation General Endowment Fund.
For those who would like to honor President Crossman’s legacy
by donating $500 to the Nebraska-Iowa District Kiwanis Foundation to support District initiatives
into the next century, find more information and the fellowship application here
