Dear Friends, Mark Twain once said, “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” In 2017, our Memphis Public Libraries are more alive than ever. Ten years ago, our libraries offered about 1,800 programs and activities to nearly 44,000 people. Today, there are over 5,500 programs and activities with 96,000+ participants! In the past year, our libraries have expanded hours and added staff. A new library branch is being built in Raleigh, the Cossitt Library downtown is slated for renovation, and smaller enhancements are underway at Crenshaw, Randolph, North, and Parkway Village. We’ve hosted seed swaps, performances, and ukulele classes. WYPL, our 24 hour radio station is now streaming live around the world. Customers are downloading e-books, checking out laptops, recording music, and learning foreign languages. All of this would not be possible without private support. The Memphis Public Libraries is nationally recognized for its innovative programs and services, but operates on a significantly lower per capita budget than nearly all its peer cities, including Nashville, Birmingham, and St. Louis. The Memphis Library Foundation fills critical public funding gaps to enhance our libraries and provide an experience beyond the basics. Please help us keep the momentum going by making a donation to the Memphis Library Foundation before the end of 2017. Thank you for your support! Dear Friends,

Mark Twain once said, “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” In 2017, our Memphis Public Libraries are more alive than ever.

In addition to funding hundreds of childrens programs throughout the libraries, the Foundation helped create 8 new DiscoverREAD centers, our new interactive learning spaces for families.
