Monthly Report May 2018 Highlights Congratulaons to Captain Jeff Prass who reached a major milestone in his career. On 5/5/18, Captain Prass completed his 25th year as a Professional Firefighter. While he is eligible to rere, Captain Prass promised that we will have to put up with him for at least eight more years. Thanks Captain for all your hard work and dedicaon to the community and the department. On 5/29/18, we welcomed our newest Firefighter/EMT, Wade Easterling. Wade was sworn in by Clearcreek Township Trustees and is now officially part of the CCFD family. Highlights

Congratulations to Captain Jeff Prass who reached a major milestone in his career. On 5/5/18, Captain Prass completed his 25th year as a Professional Firefighter. While he is eligible to retire, Captain Prass promised that we will have to put up with him for at least eight more years. Thanks Captain for all your hard work and dedication to the community and the department.

On 5/29/18, we welcomed our newest Firefighter/EMT, Wade Easterling. Wade was sworn in by Clearcreek Township Trustees and is now officially part of the CCFD family.

On 5/3/18 @ 18:09 hours, Crews responded to Tanglewood Drive for a non-breather. Upon arrival, crews found a 74-year-old male DOA. Crews contacted the coroner and released the scene to Springboro Police Department.

On 5/26/18 @ 04:10 hours, Crews responded to Springwood Drive for a non-breather. Upon arrival, crews found an 80-year-old female unresponsive and not breathing. Crews performed ALS Procedures and the patient regained a pulse. Crews transported the patient to Kettering Emergency Center-Franklin. On 5/29/18 @ 20:58 hours, Crews responded to the intersection of West State Route 122 and Hart Road for an MVA with injuries. Upon arrival, crews found a van versus a motorcycle with two patients on the roadway. Battalion 21 requested an additional medic due to multiple patients, one sustaining serious injuries. Crews transported two patients to Atrium Medical Center.

On 5/30/18 @ 15:58 hours, Crews responded to East Mill Street for a transformer fire at an electrical substation. Upon arrival, crews found an active fire in a transformer. Supervisors from Duke Energy de-energized adjacent transformers and crews extinguished the fire using dry chemical agent.

Fire Prevention ActivityPreventionOn 5/3/2018 and 5/4/18, Station 21 crews conducted a station tour with a local Girl Scout Troop.

On 5/11/18, Station 21 crews attended a Pub-Ed event at Dennis Elementary. Station 22 crews attended a Pub-Ed event at Lytle Five Points Elementary.

On 5/12/18, Station 21 crews attended a Pub-Ed event at the Springboro Covenant Presbyterian Church.

On 5/21/18 @ 14:52 hours, Crews responded to Springboro Road for a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found a fluorescent light in the garage ceiling that had caught fire and burning debris fell onto a rug, catching the rug on fire. The resident smelled smoke and extinguished the fire prior to crew arrival. Crews found no fire extension into the ceiling or walls. Turtlecreek Township and Franklin Township provided mutual aid assistance. Estimated fire damage is $5,000.00

On 5/21/18 @ 14:29 hours, Crews responded to Springhouse Way for an appliance fire. Upon arrival, crews found a double oven with the bottom oven cycling through the self-cleaning function. Dishes and utensils stored in the top oven caught fire due to the self-cleaning function of the bottom oven. Crews found no fire extension from the top oven and performed ventilation to remove smoke from the structure. Estimated fire damage is $2,000.00.

On 5/12/18, Station 22 crews attended a Pub-Ed event at Patricia Allyn Park.

On 5/23/18, Station 21 crews attended a Pub-Ed event at Dennis Elementary. Lieutenant Carman conducted Fire Extinguisher Training with the senior class at Cin-Day Academy.

Inspection ActivityOn 5/8/18, Lieutenant Carman conducted adoption inspections on Sandelwood Street and Parker Drive.

On 5/17/18, Lieutenant Carman conducted an adoption inspection on North State Route 123.

Plans ReviewLieutenant Carman reviewed the following plans during May 2018:

1. Final Protection Plan, Beehive Homes, 1325 West Lytle Five Points Road.

TrainingFire & Rescue Training Crews completed competency based training on Fire Apparatus Operator Recertification.

EMS TrainingCrews completed competency based training on Chest Decompression and Surgical/Needle Cricothyrotomy. Crews completed Protocol review of Diabetic Emergencies.

Prevention TrainingFire Inspectors completed Pre-plan review.

Special TrainingCrews completed Basic Water Rescue Awareness.

Off Site TrainingFirefighter/EMT Waters and Firefighter/Paramedic Luedtke attended Advance Vehicle Extrication in Fairborn.

Firefighter/Paramedic LeMaster, Firefighter/Paramedic Toothman, and Firefighter/Paramedic Wilson attended Bowling Green State Fire School.

Lieutenant Null attended an Advanced Rescue Course in Virginia Beach, Va.

Administrative ActivityOn 5/1/18, Assistant Chief Simpson attended an Insurance Services Organization Public Fire Protection Classification class hosted by the West Chester Fire Department.

On 5/9/18, Captain Prass and Lieutenant Carman attended the Springboro Community School District Safety Committee.

On 5/9/18, Assistant Chief Simpson and Lieutenant Carman attended Pipeline Training at the Roberts Center.

On 5/9, 5/10, 5/14, and 5/16/18, Assistant Chief Simpson continued work with the Project Tri-Tech Core project implementation team on finalizing the new CAD response area mapping and street network speed limits for AVL and on developing the initial standard operating environment for the Mobile CAD computers.

On 5/16/18, Lieutenant Carman attended the Southwest Ohio Fire Safety Council meeting.

On 5/24/18, Chief Agenbroad, Assistant Chief Simpson, Captain Prass, and Lieutenant Carman participated in a William’s Fire Control Hazardous Assessment workshop and planning activity hosted by Enterprise Products Pipeline and Bulk Storage facility located on Hart Road.

On 5/28/18, the Fire District participated in the annual City of Springboro Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony activities.

Chief Agenbroad, Assistant Chief Simpson, and Captain Scott continued work on the new Lexipol policy manual review and implementation process.
