What is longitude and latitude?Longitude and Latitude are invisible lines on theEarth’s surface to help navigate and map outdifferent locations. These lines help people findplaces in the world.

Let’s take a closer look….
These top linesthat go from Northto south are calledlongitude lines.
These side lines that go from eastto west are called latitude lines.

Let’s look even closer…. Notice that each line is measured in degrees. If you look at the line on top that is 100 degrees and follow it down to the line that is 40 degrees across what state are you in?
