Abstract
In recent decades , studies show a progressive
decrease in the number of competitive research
projects led by doctors , a phenomenon that has
occurred in both developed countries and in Chile.
The origin of this disturbing situation is multifactorial ,
including a lower priority research during medical
training, greater competition for grant funds , the
attractiveness of the clinical protocols of
pharmaceutical companies and the economic
pressure on academic - university centers. Since the
scientific method is a guiding principle underlying both
in training and in medical practice and medical
scientists play a key role in the transfer of knowledge
from the laboratory to the patient and vice versa , we
believe that physicians and researchers represent a
essential to the academic activity of medical schools
human resources, so it is necessary to develop
appropriate and progressive reverse this disturbing
trend toward extinction of physicians * scientific
strategies. Thus, it is important that medical schools
maintain competitive faculty research , promote
science undergraduate and postgraduate experience
and support the initiation and establishment of new
academic careers for medical researchers .

Meta-Análsis Vs Revisión/ Meta-Analysis Vs Review
A systematic review is a thorough, comprehensive, and explicit way of interrogatingthe medical literature. It typically involves severalsteps, including (1) asking an answerablequestion (often the most difficult step), (2)identifying one or more databases to search, (3)developing an explicit search strategy, (4)selecting titles, abstracts, and manuscripts basedon explicit inclusion and exclusion criteria, and (5)abstracting data in a standardized format.
A "meta-analysis" is a statistical approach tocombine the data derived from a systematic-review. Therefore, every meta-analysis should bebased on an underlying systematic review, butnot every systematic review leads to a meta-analysis.
