The Masaryk University (Department of German Studies and Department of Musicology at the Faculty of Arts) in cooperation with the Austrian Cultural Forum Prague, the Department of Foreign Relations of the Brno City Municipality, the University of Vienna and Ackermann-Gemeinde Rottenburg-Stuttgart would like to invite all university students and teachers as well as the general public to a series of lectures Lectures on Austrian Culture and Society Wissenschaftskolleg Österreich-Bibliothek IV at the Faculty of Arts of the Masaryk University (building C – auditorium/aula, Arne Nováka 1, Brno) Under the auspices of: Dr. Erhard Busek, the former vice-chancellor and minister of science and research of the Republic of Austria with the speakers Univ.-Prof. Dr. Daniela Hammer-Tugendhat Prof. Dr. Ivo Hammer The Villa Tugendhat and its residents on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 5.30 pm Daniela Hammer-Tugendhat will talk about the life in Brno's Villa Tugendhat, showing photos from her father's private collection. She will also attempt to answer the question first asked as early as 1931 in Werkbund's Die Form magazine, “Is it possible to live in Villa Tugendhat?” The issue of the villa's renovation will be briefly addressed in the discussion. Prof. Dr. Daniela Hammer-Tugendhat is the youngest of Greta and Fritz Tugendhats' daughters. She has been giving regular lectures at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna since 1975 and she is a committee member in the International Research Centre for Cultural Studies in Vienna. In addition, she is a committee member in Vienna's city museum and an expert consultant for the European Research Council in Brussels. The lecture series is dedicated to the 200th birth anniversary of an architect Theophil von Hansen (1813–1891). The lecture series commemorates the 90th birthday of Prof. Dr. Peter Demetz (2012) and the 80th birthday of Reiner Kunze (2013), both being members of the honorary committee of WÖB. The lectures are held in Czech or German (with simultaneous interpreting or translation). The right to change the programme is reserved The lecture series is organized by the Writing Course (Schreibkurs) team. Das Haus Tugendhat und seine Bewohner am Montag, dem 2. 12. 2013 um 17:30 Uhr

Daniela Hammer-Tugendhat beschreibt anhand der

privaten originalen Fotografien ihres Vaters das Leben im Haus Tugendhat von Mies van der Rohe in Brünn. Ausgehend von der 1931 in der Werkbundzeitschrift „Die Form“ geführten Debatte „Kann man im Haus Tugendhat wohnen?“ versucht sie eine Antwort auf diese Frage zu geben. In der Diskussion soll dann auch gemeinsam mit Ivo Hammer auf Fragen der Restaurierung eingegangen werden.

Ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Daniela Hammer-Tugendhat ist die jüngste Tochter von Grete und Fritz Tugendhat. Seit 1975 an der Wiener Universität für Angewandte Kunst, Gutachterin im Europäischen Forschungsrat, Mitglied des Vorstands des IFK (Internationales Forschungszentrum Kulturwissenschaften).

Die Ringvorlesung ist dem 200. Geburtstag des dänisch-österreichischen Architekten Theophil von Hansen (1813-1891) gewidmet. Die Ringvorlesung findet anlässlich des 90. Geburtstages von Prof. Dr. Peter Demetz (2012) und des 80. Geburtstages von Reiner Kunze (2013), Mitgliedern des Ehrenkomitees des WÖB, statt. Die Vorträge finden auf Tschechisch oder auf Deutsch (mit Simultandolmetschen) statt, Änderungen des Programms oder Veranstaltungsorts vorbehalten.
