POLICY STATEMENT Leeming Senior High School provides students with the educational support needed to learn and maintain positive behaviour. The vision statement of Leeming Senior High School states: “We seek to achieve harmony and strive for excellence at all times. We encourage all individuals to reach their potential. We value mutual respect, tolerance, inquiry and participation. We value and are committed to fairness, personal responsibility and a safe, friendly and supportive learning environment.” Our approaches align to our Harmony ethos, support positive student behaviour and:

• are preventative in nature; • promote pro-social behaviour, student wellbeing and the development of self-discipline; • focus on early intervention; and • outline procedures for the management of ongoing or serious misbehaviour.

BACKGROUND Leeming SHS has developed our Positive Student Behaviour Policy to align itself with the Department of Education Student Behaviour Policy (updated 11 August 2016). The management of student behaviour is embedded in transition programs and the teaching and learning process with a focus on:

• promoting pro-social behaviour and positive social interactions amongst staff and students;

• providing opportunities for students to learn and practice appropriate social behaviours and self-discipline; and

• employing appropriate and fair sanctions for students who display inappropriate behaviours.

The Leeming SHS Positive Student Behaviour Policy process embodies the vision statement and represents a total school approach towards the achievement of a friendly, safe and supportive environment at Leeming SHS in which students and staff can strive for excellence in their educational pursuits. The aim of this process is to create an environment in which students are able to learn with little or no disruption from others and are encouraged to be responsible for their own behaviour.

PRINCIPLES The Leeming SHS Roles and Responsibilities charter identifies what teachers and students at Leeming SHS commit to. It is supported by the following principles which guide the management of all student behaviour:

• Student wellbeing and the prevention of inappropriate behaviour will be enhanced through a focus on early intervention and prevention.

• The use of appropriate curriculum and learning programs will encourage engagement by students.

• Student behaviour is best managed in ways that promote restorative practives and are educative in nature.

• All decisions relating to the management of student behaviour and the implementation of policy are made according to the principles of procedural fairness.

• Teacher’s behaviour management processes will acknowledge the duty to take reasonable care for the safety of staff and students.

• Students behaviour must not be viewed in isolation but as part of an interaction between the student, staff and the school community.

• School staff will demonstrate accountability for evidence-based decision-making reporting and referral to appropriate support, and record keeping.

WHOLE SCHOOL BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT The Leeming SHS Positive Behaviour Policy includes:

• the school code of conduct stating the behaviours that students are required to learn and maintain at school;

• the roles and responsibilities of staff in implementing whole school behaviour support; • teaching and classroom management strategies that support positive student

behaviour including: the management of the school environment to promote positive student behaviour; the school’s strategy for communicating to parents on student’s behaviour; the school’s strategy for deciding on the application of disciplinary measures; the school’s approach to coordinating with external agencies where required; measures to address:

all forms of bullying aggression; drug and alcohol misuse by students, including provision of evidence – based

drug and alcohol education; the presence of weapons on our school site; risks of suicidal behaviour and/or non-suicidal self-injury;

• The rules regarding personal use of mobile and other electronic devices, and response to breaches of these rules; and

TEACHING AND CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES

THAT SUPPORT POSITIVE STUDENT BEHAVIOUR Staff at Leeming SHS are to use low key responses to prevent and respond to misbehaviour where possible. These responses include: proximity, gesture, using the student’s name, the look, a pause, ignoring the behaviour, a signal to begin/for attention, and always dealing with the problem not the student. Staff at Leeming SHS are also to employ Restorative Justice practices and aim to use a restorative approach when addressing misbehaviour. The Restorative Justice approach can be employed by classroom teachers, Year Coordinators, Heads of Learning Area, Student Services Managers, the Deputy Principals and the Principal. A range of positive initiatives are used to support Leeming SHS students:

• House points towards House Shields (RollMarker Merit Points) • Letter of commendation • Certificates of achievement/recognition • Year Group assembly recognition • Lunchtime activities • Representing the school in sporting/academic events • Mentoring opportunities • Student Council membership opportunities • Camps and field trips • End of year excursions

At Leeming SHS we value our parents and care givers as partners in their child’s education. We commit to communicating in a timely fashion, especially when the student’s behaviour is impacting upon the teaching and learning opportunities for other students at the school. CONNECT is the learning management system used at Leeming SHS and all parents are encouraged to register and log in to view their child’s curriculum, educational progress and an ongoing summary of school information. If more specific information is required, parents may contact the appropriate Year Coordinator.

Staff at Leeming SHS are to use low key responses to prevent and respond to misbehaviour where possible. These responses include: proximity, gesture, using the student’s name, the look, a pause, ignoring the behaviour, a signal to begin/for attention, and always dealing with the problem not the student.

15

When deciding upon the disciplinary measures to be taken when a student has breached the Leeming SHS Code of Conduct, the school’s leadership team refer to the Leeming SHS Roles and Responsibilities. It should be noted that every circumstance is addressed on an individual basis and takes into consideration the frequency and complexity of the breach of the school’s Code of Conduct. The Leeming SHS school behaviour management plans include the use of appropriate consequences for breaches of the school’s Code of Conduct. Staff consider the use of consequences as part of an educative and restorative process. Poor classroom behaviour may include, but is not limited to, any of the following:

• Refusal to do class work • Continued disruption of the learning process • Unprepared for class • Refusal to follow instructions

• Disrespectful or bullying behaviour • Consistently late to class or truancy from class • Inappropriate language

When staff consider the use of consequences for the management of behaviour, the following procedures may apply:

• Reflection and commitment to modify behaviour is undertaken • Discuss about concern, rules broken • Changed seating plan • School community service • In-class isolation or buddy class system, withdrawal by HOLA • Detention

Teachers will record information on SIS (see instructions on pages 21-24) and notify HOLAs, Student Services Managers and parents/guardians when the misbehaviour warrants further support. In situations when immediate assistance is required, teachers are to send a student to alert either the relevant HOLA, Student Services Manager or Deputy Principal. The HOLA, Student Services Manager or Deputy Principal may then recommend a detention, withdrawal, case conference or formal suspension. A formal suspension can only be decided by the Principal or a delegated representative. At Leeming SHS, if the Principal is unavailable either the Student Services Managers or the Deputy Principals have the delegated right and authority to suspend. Any intentions regarding suspension will be made after discussion between at least two of the listed administrators and following notification of the intention to suspend with a parent/guardian. Students returning from suspension will be involved in a formal meeting with either the relevant Student Services Manager or Deputy Principal and the student and parent/guardian. When the suspension has involved an incident involving a staff member or student, a restorative justice

process will be the basis for this meeting. The affected parties will be invited to participate in the meeting. As a result of this meeting the student may be placed on a Behaviour, Risk Management or Attendance Plan to assist with their re-introduction back into the classroom. The Student Services team liaise with external agencies on a needs basis. Where possible, parents and care givers are consulted prior to engaging with external agencies. The Student Services team is comprised of a Year 7-9 manager and a Year 10-12 manager, Year Coordinators, a Year 7-9 and a Year 10-12 Students at Educational Risk Coordinator, a School Psychologist, a School Chaplain and a School Nurse. They meet both weekly and on a needs basis to determine which external agencies to engage with in their meetings. Risk management plans are created for identified students in need by the Student Services team. These plans are underpinned by specific school policies, including, but not limited to:

• Good Standing Policy • Countering Bullying Policy • Cyber Bullying Policy • Information Technology: Responsible Use Policy • Information Technology: Acceptable Usage Agreement • Mobile Phone and Electronic Devices Agreement • Mobile Phone and Electronic Devices Policy • Dress Code Policy • Prohibited Objects and Items Policy

Student Services staff will undertake risk management planning where a student’s behaviour is considered to present a physical or psychological risk to the safety of staff or students. This will be documented and be included in the student’s documented plan addressing behaviour. The risk management plan includes:

• A summary of the student’s behaviour and the risk it presents; • The known triggers to the behaviour and strategies which de-escalate this behaviour; • Strategies which are in place to support staff to manage the risk and advice as to how

staff should access this support; • An outline of the other resource required to manage the student’s behaviour; and • An outline of the method of communicating this plan to the general staff.

RESTORATIVE APPROACH TO POSITIVE STUDENT BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT AT LEEMING SHS

A restorative approach is used to rebuild and strengthen relationships. At Leeming Senior High School the following approach is used to promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and connectedness across the entire school community. • For incidents occurring outside the classroom, the same process is followed and students are referred to the SSM or to a Deputy Principal. • For serious breaches of discipline, students may be referred directly to the first available HOLA, Student Services Manager or Deputy Principal.

STRUCTURE INTERVENTION/SUPPORT First Warning Issued

• Reason for 1st warning explicitly stated by Teacher

Second Warning Issued • Reason for 2ndwarning explicitly stated by Teacher

Third Warning Issued Restorative Discussion and Classroom Contract

• Student and teacher discuss the restorative questions together and determine a resolution

• Classroom teacher informs HOLA and Year Coordinator of the classroom contract and contact is made with parents/carers which outlines the specific issue and the agreed resolution strategies to be implemented

• Teacher records on SIS and keeps a record of student behaviour over the term of the contract which may be six lessons or a 2 week cycle.

If the classroom contract is broken, referral to relevant subject HOLA for intervention

GUIDES FOR DISCUSSION OF BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT ISSUES

The following steps are recommended: PROBLEM CLARIFICATION The problem should be explored with the student. In managing behaviour, this involves the student understanding all the circumstances that have led to the problem. Rapport with the student should be established by actively and reflectively listening to the student’s explanation of the events. WORKING TOWARDS A SHARED PICTURE OF THE PROBLEM Help to integrate the information the student presents and that obtained from other sources. Be assertive, not aggressive, to avoid further conflict or escalation of the problem. ENCOURAGE THE STUDENT Encouragement is a process which:

• Avoids being negative • Provides information/summarises the problem from a school perspective • Helps the student to determine the possible outcomes of such misbehaviours • Concentrates on strengths/assets the student has but fails to use, rather than

emphasising weaknesses • Challenges a student to make appropriate change, and • Sets reasonable and attainable behavioural goals.

SETTING GOALS Help the students to define goals that are:

• Clear, specific and within a reasonable time-line • Measurable • Realistic • Adequate • Understood clearly by the student and accepted as their own.

The aim of discussion is to assist students to better understand and manage a problem.

19

CLASSROOM TEACHING SHOULD INVOLVE: • defined outcomes • interesting and stimulating lessons • establishing positive relationships with the students • clearly delineated positive classroom rules which are displayed in your room and reinforced

regularly; and • good organisation and planning. ACHIEVING EFFECTIVE CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT WITH INDIVIDUAL

STUDENTS INCLUDES: • Showing an interest in the students whenever there is opportunity. For example, ask their

opinions, sports they play, what they do outside of school, about their family etc; • Providing positive feedback, reinforcement and encouragement – students often require a lot of

reassurance; • Letting students know exactly what you expect from them so they know where they stand with

you; • Taking time to listen to students; • Showing respect and courtesy; and • Talking openly and positively to students after confrontational incidents. ACHIEVING EFFECTIVE CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT INVOLVES: • A considerable amount of specific positive feedback; • Respect and courtesy to the class; • Negotiating precise classroom rules and behaviour guidelines with the class. See Leeming SHS

Student Roles and Responsibilities. Discuss with the students. Display these rules in the class; • Communication and discussion of your expectations of the class; • Being consistent in enforcing and reinforcing your rules. Students become confused and class

relationships are weakened if students are ignored at times and reprimanded on other occasions. Students feel “picked on” and become resentful if the same misdemeanour one day gets a warning and on another a behaviour entry on SIS;

• Establishing and practising specific routines. (eg Entering and leaving room, finding something quietly to carry on with then work is finished, working in groups … );

• Ensuring that you model punctuality and on-task behaviour. If appropriate, have a quick activity (mental, spelling, revision) to get students active immediately;

• Developing class unity possibly through special projects or some common goal; and • Dealing quickly and effectively with disruptions:

a) Provide positive reinforcement for appropriate behaviour. (Positive reinforcement should clearly relate to specific behaviour, motivate the student and be immediate – encourage rather than criticise.)

Proximity praise: Where a student is misbehaving, praise at least one other student who is in close proximity for behaving appropriately; praise the misbehaved student immediately they do something appropriate; prompt or redirect the student to return to the appropriate behaviour; check that the student can cope with the activity; quietly enquire as to the reason for the misbehaviour.

Page 21: Leeming Senior High School · 2019-01-30 · POLICY STATEMENT . Leeming Senior High School provides students with the educational support needed to learn and maintain positive behaviour

20

b) A range of consequences needs to be available that emphasise student responsibility. c) Punishment can be devalued and have no effect. Unlike positive reinforcement, which refers

to a variety of ways of encouraging appropriate student behaviour, punishment should be used sparingly.

CHECKLIST FOR TEACHING STAFF IN CLASS RECOGNITION

• Letters of Commendation • In class/department acknowledgment • Participation invited on extra curricula activities • House Reward/Merit points entered into RollMarker • Email or phone call to parent/guardian

Have you… Discussed your classroom expectations with your class?

GOOD STANDING POLICY At Leeming Senior High School, we have a clearly stated Code of Conduct which is available in the Positive Student Behaviours Policy. It is expected that all students will follow the school’s Code of Conduct and, by definition, retain their Good Standing. All students begin the school year with a status of Good Standing. The outcome sought is for each student to maintain a consistent focus on their intended educational outcomes by responsibly carrying out all the requirements and expectations so as to achieve ‘Harmony and Excellence’. It is intended that at all times students will maintain their Good Standing status by attending regularly in full uniform, trying their best academically and behaving appropriately. We believe that by setting clear standards, students and their parents know and understand what is expected of them at Leeming Senior High School. The GOOD STANDING POLICY focuses on Leeming Senior High School’s standards for:

• Maintaining regular attendance so as to meet the school’s attendance requirements. • Demonstrating acceptable behaviour

Students who have GOOD STANDING are eligible to receive all rewards/ be involved in activities associated with:

• The House System • Reward activities

• End of term excursions and activities

• Transitional events • Attend extra-curricular activities, including excursions, camps and events

such as the School Ball, Year 12 Presentation Ceremony, social events and other events not directly linked to course assessments.

If a student does not have GOOD STANDING, they are not eligible to participate in these activities. Inappropriate behaviours will automatically result in the loss of Good Standing. Good Standing is likely to be placed at risk by: • Repeated misbehaviour in class • Poor attendance (below 90%) without

valid cause • Bullying • Theft • Breach of any element or policy

within the Positive Student Behaviour Policy

• Verbal or physical abuse of staff or fellow students

• Intentional damage to property or vandalism

• Any issue resulting in suspension • Any action that is deemed serious

enough by the Year Co-ordinator, Head of Learning Area, Student Services Manager, Deputy Principal or Principal.

NOTE: The Good Standing of a student can be withdrawn or restored by the Student Services Managers, Deputy Principals or Principal at any time.

COUNTER BULLYING POLICY Leeming Senior High School does not tolerate bullying in any form. Bullying is behaviour by one or more students towards others that is intended to insult, injure, embarrass, distress or humiliate that person. It occurs when there is an imbalance of physical, verbal, social or psychological power in favour of the bully. It is everyone’s right and responsibility to report bullying whether it happens to you or someone ELSE. Bullying can include, but is not limited to:

• Name calling • Threats • Physical aggression • Damage to personal property

• Exclusion from a group • Cyber bullying • Inappropriate humour • Inappropriate gestures, body

language & facial expressions We at Leeming Senior High School believe bullying is potentially destructive as it can have long lasting negative effects on people's happiness, school work and life in general. If you are being bullied, here are some things you can try:

1. Stay calm – not reacting will discourage the bully 2. Tell the bully to stop annoying you in an assertive, not aggressive, manner 3. Ignore them or walk away to safety 4. Collect and keep evidence of bullying – cyber bullying (messages, texts, emails), names of

witnesses. 5. Report the incident to a staff member.

If someone else is being bullied, you may be able to help them. Standing by and letting someone else be bullied is just as bad as bullying someone yourself. If you are being bullied, or someone else is being bullied, these adults at Leeming Senior High School will be able to help you deal with and address the bullying:

• Classroom teachers • House Group leaders • School Chaplain • School Psychologist • Year Coordinators • Student Services Managers • Deputy Principals

A restorative justice approach will be taken to ensure that the bullying is addressed.

31

CYBER BULLYING POLICY Cyber bullying can be defined as “the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), particularly mobile phones and the internet, to deliberately and continually upset, hurt, injure, threaten, dominate, embarrass or cause discomfort to someone”. Cyber bullying includes harassment using, but is not limited to, the following forms of communication; mobile phones, Instant Messenger, chat rooms and message boards, email, blogs, webcam, social network sites, video hosting sites, virtual learning environments and gaming sites, consoles and virtual worlds. Cyber bullying is becoming more prevalent in our society as technologies evolve and develop to allow easier and often more immediate forms of communication. It can be an extension of face-to-face bullying, with technology providing the bully with another route to harass their target. However, it differs in several significant ways from other kinds of bullying: the invasion of the home and personal space; the ability to bully 24 hours a day; the difficulty in controlling electronically circulated messages; the size of the audience; perceived anonymity and even the profile of the person doing the bullying and their target. Cyber bullying takes different forms that include threats and intimidation, harassment or ‘cyber stalking’ (e.g. repeatedly sending unwanted texts or instant messages); vilification/defamation; ridicule; exclusion or peer rejection; impersonation; unauthorised publication of private information or images. It may also include instances of defamation or the manipulation of another person’s image on social network pages. Leeming SHS deems the use of harassment via cyber bullying as extremely serious and likely to lead to suspension/and or loss of ICT rights (in accordance with the Leeming SHS Code of Conduct) if found to have occurred during school hours. Leeming SHS additionally understands that most cyber bullying will most likely occur after school hours. However, the ramifications of such bullying are likely to occur during school hours. Leeming SHS will treat each case of cyber bullying on its merits as a bullying issue (in accordance with the Leeming SHS Countering Bullying Policy). School staff may request a student reveal a message or show them other content on their phone for the purpose of establishing if bullying has occurred. Where the text or image is visible on the device, staff may request to search the device. Families that believe that cyber bullying of their child is occurring should consider the following steps:

• Keep either electronic or hard copy evidence of the prescribed cyber bullying • Change your child’s mobile phone number • Employ social media and internet usage restrictions • As an adult, NEVER confront a child either directly or via the internet/social media regarding your

concern/s • Consult the school administration regarding your cyber bullying concerns (with evidence) • Contact the police regarding ongoing or high level cyber bullying (with evidence)

Leeming SHS also acknowledges the increasing prevalence of the issue of ‘sexting’ whereby images of a pornographic nature are disseminated among third parties primarily through the use of mobile phones. These images may include pictures of students or images available through other mediums, such as the internet. When the school becomes aware of these images, the Police will be called and the images passed on to the Internet Safety Department of the Department of Education. NOTE: The Leeming SHS Cyber Bullying Policy is governed in accordance with the Leeming SHS Positive Student Behaviour Policy.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: RESPONSIBLE USE POLICY

OVERVIEW

Leeming Senior High School is a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) school and we actively encourage the responsible use of technology in the school. This requires that students adhere to specific expectations so that the wireless network can operate at optimum speed for the educational benefit of all users. As we move further into the IT revolution, we spend more time working with students to develop positive and responsible patterns of usage of the various technologies. Mobile phones with cameras are in wide use at school. Students are in the main responsible users but photos are taken at school at breaks and even photos of events at school. Photos can be and have been on-sent to friends and even downloaded to internet sites. Mobile phones are part of life and phones are accepted at school subject to responsible use, and use only at recess and lunch. These may breach laws and regulations if they are taken without permission, and certainly if they are distributed without permission. Certainly photos of staff and students need to be taken only by agreement. Mobile phones are part of life and phones are accepted at school subject to responsible use, and use only at recess and lunch. Chatrooms, email and SMS messaging are now very popular forms of social interaction and conversation but they too have the potential for misuse – sometimes inadvertent as messages finish with unintended recipients or as deliberate payback or harassment. Internet sites have the potential to enhance friendships but they can also be pathways to potential areas of risk for teenagers. The school has a strong program of filters and blocks but there continue to be those who seek to bypass these tools using proxy hosts. Students have their own accounts which can be monitored, but they are responsible for protecting their own access rights and not sharing. The school has a generous down load allowance, but when students abuse this privilege they will incur restricted/ or loss of IT rights. Internet access has broadened the research avenues of all students but at the same time has increased their responsibilities about copyright, and referencing acknowledgements to avoid plagiarism. All students and families agree to the Leeming SHS Acceptable Use Agreement that imposes responsibilities in return for access rights. From time to time students do lose their access rights where they have misused the systems available or other more serious consequences are invoked to reinforce our school standards of reasonable and responsible use. The school now advocates that IT access at home should be in open flowthrough areas where usage can be informally monitored and discussed. Classroom teachers have reconfigured laboratories from rows to peripheral setups so that usage is more easily monitored and supported. We have had good support from parents and students in these matters and we encourage families to stay in touch with the new technologies and the patterns and methods of use being developed. The protocols and standards of accessing and using the new technologies continue to evolve and we are keen to see that Leeming SHS students understand and maintain those standards.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT GUIDELINES 2019 Dear Parent/Guardian and Student The Physical and Health Education Staff welcome you to the commencement of the school year. We trust that we may produce a good working relationship between staff, parents and students. As well as participating in school lessons we encourage students to represent the school in a wide range of sports in Champion Schools Competition. Leeming students and staff have built a very sound and respected reputation over the years. At the commencement of the New Year we would like to take this opportunity to outline the requirements and expectations of students in Physical Education classes at Leeming Senior High School. REQUIREMENTS The school’s Physical Education policy outlines that each student shall change into a PE uniform. The uniform policy is for reasons of hygiene, to minimise damage to other school uniforms and ensure a change of clothes if your child gets wet during the winter months while participating in their class. The PE uniform is as follows: Shirt Leeming SHS Navy Blue/Red Shirt Shorts Leeming SHS Navy Shorts Shoes Appropriate lace-up shoes for sport e.g. joggers, cross-trainers

Hair All long hair needs to be tied back for safety Wet Weather Jacket

Dark Navy. PE uniform to be worn underneath

Sanctions for repeatedly being out of PE uniform for Physical Education within each term will be imposed as follows:

• All instances of non-compliance will be recorded on Rollmarker and the students record. This may lead to loss of good standing and exclusion from some student events in line with the schools Behaviour Management processes.

• Students will assist by taking out and returning PE equipment to classes. • Students will be given detentions or Yard Duty.

Teachers in the PD Department encourage the students to accept responsibility for being prepared for class. The students know when their uniform is required and should be encouraged to get it ready and, if necessary, wash it themselves. Students are also encouraged to wear hats and sunscreen in the summer months and to bring along their own water container. Students are also required to change back into their school uniform at the conclusion of PE lessons i.e. PE uniform is only to be worn during PE (and Dance) lessons. Students wearing PE uniform for non PE lessons will be considered out of school uniform and subject to the relevant Student Services sanctions for this.

Page 44: Leeming Senior High School · 2019-01-30 · POLICY STATEMENT . Leeming Senior High School provides students with the educational support needed to learn and maintain positive behaviour

43

Students may choose to wear navy blue tracksuit pants but this is only an option during term two and three. If tracksuit pants are to be worn to PE and as part of their school uniform, then they may be asked to show two pairs of tracksuit pants so they can fulfil their obligation to change into a PE uniform. Physical Education classes will proceed as normal except in the most extreme weather conditions. Please note that students are still required to change into PE uniform on Free Dress Days. EXPECTATIONS Students are expected to come to their PE class and;

• Participate to the best of their ability in the skill activities and games organized. • Their participation should be based on the instructions given. • Students should at no time endanger the welfare and safety of other class members. • Use the change rooms appropriately and in a timely manner.

NOTES If your child cannot participate due to injury or illness, a note outlining the situation is required on the day and helps to avoid unnecessary problems at school on the day. If the problem is long term and is due to medical reasons, then a Medical Certificate should also be shown and an estimate of when they can resume PE classes.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION VALUABLES POLICY 2019 Leeming SHS discourages students from bringing unnecessary items of value to school. Physical education staff will not accept student valuables for safe keeping during class time. Students should not leave valuables in the change rooms as up to 3 or 4 classes may use these rooms at any given time and as such security cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, students who bring valuables to the Phys Ed area do so at their own risk. The Phys Ed staff will accept no responsibility for any loss of valuables. No valuables including mobile phones and iPods are to be in the students possession or left on the sidelines during Physical Education classes. Items in pockets can compromise the safety of students in the class. Students not participating in class due to illness or injury are also expected to comply with these guidelines. Laptop Computers/BYOD

1. Students are responsible for asking their teacher to open the storage area outside the PE change rooms prior to class and then placing their laptop/tablet in the storage area.

Suggestions for Student Management of Valuables

1. Leave valuables at home. 2. Use a school locker if available. 3. Arrange with a trusted friend (not in your Phys Ed class) to look after your valuables. 4. Attempt to organise storage at Student Services.

Sanctions for Non Compliance Students who disregard these guidelines may be placed on detention or have items confiscated depending on the nature of the incident. Subsequent breaches of the policy will see the student progress through the Leeming SHS Positive Student Behaviour Policy process.
