Top 3 Reasons to Visit the Diving Capital of Latin America-COZUMEL
Revel in the adventures to be had in Cozumel, located on the world's second largest barrier reef, see why Cozumel is a must-visit destination for any diver. It's not surprising that Cozumel is Mexico's most visited island, drawing more than 4.5 million visitors per year. Cozumel, meaning "Island of the Swallows", is located on the world's second largest barrier reef. It is home to some of the best dive sites that feature an average of 80 feet visibility year-round, colorful marine life, spectacular topside activi-ties, great shopping, and is rich with culture. Considered to be the "Diving Capital of Latin America", here's our list of the top three reasons to visit the stunning island of Cozumel. 1. Convenient Travel Whether you are looking for a short stay on the island, or an extended getaway, Cozumel is appealing for any length of travel. Check diving in Cozumel off your bucket list on a 1-day cruise ship stopover, or get to know more of the dive sites from a weekend getaway, weeks-long dive trip, or on an extended vacation on the picturesque island. 2. New Divers Welcome With Cozumel's reputation as the "Diving Capital of Latin America", new divers will be hard pressed to compare future destinations to the abundance of marine life and diving services offered on Mexico's most visited island. Relish in the ease of drift diving in Cozu-mel's underwater panorama. Known as the "Drift-Diving Capital of the World", divers can drop into the water and finish their dive with curb-side boat pickup service upon ascent. Selecting Cozumel for your first warm water diving trip will BE sure to spoil you before visiting any future diving destination. 3. Advanced Divers Delight
Cozumel has no shortage of advanced dive sites with most depths beginning at 60-80 feet. Colorful reef walls extend far beyond recreational limits, and numerous swim-throughs with brightly colored overhangs line Cozumel's coastline from North to South. Most dive centers offer Nitrox services and some offering Tec-Rec diving. For those interested in an "extreme" adventure, try diving the windward side of the island, or experiencing the thrill of the islands only diveable cenote, Aerolito, located next to Caleta. Satisfy your wanderlust with a trip to the exotic island of Cozumel. Don’t miss out, sign up for our July 2018 trip and see first hand that this is a wonderful vacation (dive) destination.

Great instruction and information had a blast today doing open
water 1 course and then the assistance on picking my personal
scuba gear. Can’t wait to do the 2nd part but want to knock out
a few fun dives with them to improve on the skills that I learned
today. Thanks again to the Amber Waves Staff.

Discover the new Legend
The new line of Legend regulators crafts the future with
innovative technology and sleek cosmetic appeal. The
new Legends are smaller and lighter making for a more
comfortable dive.
$645.00 IN STOCK
An ideal breathing system for virtually
any diving scenario, the balanced dia-
phragm MK17 EVO is completely sealed
off from the elements, ensuring trouble-
free operation no matter how cold or murky the water gets. It is more
compact yet delivers better breathing performance than its predeces-
sor. Its improved internal design allows more airflow from the LP ports
which have been reconfigured for better hose routing. The full-
featured air-balanced S560 second stage, built with a rugged nylon
fiberglass case, is lightweight and easy to use. Together they create
the must-have regulator system for recreational divers of all skill
levels.

Scubapro MK17 EVO/G260 Regulator
If you dive deep, dive cold, or often find yourself on silty bottoms or
in less-than-pristine waters, the MK17 EVO/G260 is the regulator
system for you. The new MK17 EVO is Scubapro's premium high
performance balanced diaphragm first stage. Engineered specifical-
ly for cold water and harsh environments, its internal components
are completely sealed off from the elements so neither water nor
pollution can get inside the chrome-plated marine grade brass body
to foul the mechanism. This total sealing system also allows for a
dry ambient pressure chamber which works to prevent freezing,
provides better protection and improves performance, ensuring
trouble-free operation no matter how cold or murky the water
gets. Now think about it, if this regulator performance flawlessly in
cold water it will also be a phenomenal regulator in warm temper-
ate waters. This is just simply a great regulator at a great value.
$626.00
The Apeks XTX50 Regulator is what
you're looking for in a top of the line regulator, at a reasonable price.
The Apeks XTX50 is designed to handle every diving condition you
could put it through. It can even be changed from right hand to left
hand use, by an authorized technician. You can change out the ex-
haust tee from a wider tee for minimal bubbles, great for photog-
raphy, or a more narrow exhaust tee for a smaller more compact reg-
ulator.
Apeks XTX50 features:
An over balanced diaphragm design first stage that is environ-
mentally sealed
Four medium pressure ports, with optional fifth
Easily converts from right hand to left hand, by factory author-
ized technician
Pneumatically balanced second stage
Diver changeable exhaust tee

The new Wisdom 3 is an intui-
tive easy to use and operate
with easy to read large digital
display. The computer has
diver selectable alarms, deep stop reminders, DECO warnings,
and has Air, Nitrox and Gauge Modes. The repetitive dive plan-
ning mode uses information from previous dives to see limita-
tions of your next dive. Logging your dives is made easy with the
dive log function that stores profiles for later recall and viewing.

SCUBA TUNE-UP Sure, you have a certification card, but that doesn’t always mean you’re feeling ready to dive. If it has been awhile since your last dive, you may be in need of a PADI ReActivate scuba refresher program. Here are sev-en signs to look for. You can’t find your C-card. Sure, someone from the dive center can call PADI® to confirm you’re certified, but if you can’t find the card, that’s a sign that perhaps too much time has passed since your last dive. You finally have a vacation planned and you want to dive. You could spend precious time at your destination catching up on skills — or you could do that work with your hometown dive center. It’s been a while since your last dive, and you will be diving with your kids. “A lot of times, we are dealing with families that got certified togeth-er,” says Lyn Fishman, owner of Mid-Atlantic Scuba Center located in Bensalem, PA, outside Philadelphia. “One thing I remind parents be-fore they get in the water is that they are going to be responsible for another person, and I ask if they feel up for it.” If the answer is no, consider a refresher course. Six to 12 months have elapsed since your last dive. “One of the first questions we ask someone who is coming in to dive is, “When is the last time you were in the water?” As for the answer, we suggest a refresher if you haven’t been diving in six months, a year, or longer. The thought of putting your gear together makes you nervous. If you’re struggling to remember just how the gear fits together, keep in mind that the Divemaster can assist you — but it might also be time for a refresher course. You can’t remember when your last dive was. If your last dive was more than a decade ago, you may need more than just a refresher course. I start out by asking folks how long it’s been since their last dive. “Then I ask about the time before they stopped diving. I ask them to estimate how many dives they had before they stopped. For some people, it’s been 15 years and they guess that they had maybe 10 dives before they stopped.” It’s always their choice, of course, but we recommend taking a full course at that point. If you’re still unsure if you need a scuba refresher, know that you always have the option of hiring a private Divemaster to serve as a guide for you and/or your buddy or family. But it’s a lot cheaper and times efficient to let us, your local dive shop, take care of the refresher for you. If you identify with any of the above, it might be time to call us and schedule a Scuba Review/Refresher

THE MUST HAVE AND NEVER RENT EQUIPMENT
Mask
If you can only afford one piece of dive gear, buy a mask. A high-
quality, comfortable scuba diving mask that fits your face well can
make the difference between enjoyable dives and a miserable time
underwater. Take your time selecting a mask and don't forget to bring
it with you on your dive trips; rental masks will get the job done, but
having your own mask will make a significant difference in your com-
fort level underwater.
Fins
Most divers find that owning their own set of fins (and dive booties, if
appropriate) makes them more confident underwater. Rental fins
come in such a variety of lengths, styles, and stiffness that it is hard to
predict exactly what you will get when renting diving fins. This is es-
pecially true for divers with unusual fin sizes; I know a diver who has
exceptionally small feet and she has been stuck with weak, floppy
children's fins in rental gear situations. Immediately after her trip she
came in and bought her own fins.
Snorkel
Admittedly, there are certain diving applications — cave diving for
instance — where a snorkel is both unnecessary and a potential liabil-
ity, but for the vast majority of recreational diving, the snorkel is an
asset and should be an integral part of the kit. Any diver heading to a
site from shore is well aware of the advantage of surface swimming
with a snorkel versus using precious air from the cylinder. Even cer-
tain boat entries necessitate a surface swim to a down line, often
against the current, where the snorkel once again preserves irreplace-
able dive fuel.
Innovative, low profile design minimizes drag. The
pneumatically balanced valve provides superior
performance for an alternate air source, making it a
perfect complement to the high performing regula-
tors.

ADVANCED OPEN WATER COURSE
The Advanced Open Water Diver Course (AOW) is the next step in learning advanced skills directly applicable to scuba diving. Frequently, an AOW
card is just the ticket to diving at a variety of more sites. For example, we know of several places in the Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, and some
wreck sites in Florida who will not let you dive at certain, more advanced sites, unless you have the AOW or above certification. The reason is that
the operators don't want to risk putting OW divers into certain advanced level dive conditions such as currents or deep, blue water, environments.
They know that PADI AOW certified divers have the skills and experience necessary for such sites.
There are a total of 5 dives necessary to complete the course. The required 2 Core dives are Deep and Underwater Navigation. You can choose the
remaining 3 Adventure Dives. This course is for newly certified divers as well as divers with more experience who wish to expand their knowledge
and practical skills. Also, if you don't have enough time to complete the full AOW course, the Adventure Diver rating is awarded after completion
after any 3 Adventure Dives.
Why should you take the Advanced Open Water Course?
Open Water Divers have learned the basics, the "how" of diving. After a few dives, there is a need to expand that dive knowledge and learn practi-
cal skills which can increase your enjoyment of diving. Ever surface far away from the boat and have a long surface swim back? With the Naviga-
tion dive, you will learn how to prevent that situation, using compass as well as natural navigational aids to assist in your underwater journey. For
deep diving, there are special concerns, and as an Open Water Diver, you are certified to dive 18 meters/60 feet. After completing the AOW
course, that level is extended to 30 meters/100 feet. OUR OPEN WATER SEASON OPEN APRIL 20-22….IT’S NOT TOO EARLY TO SIGN UP.
