Located in the heart of Leicester’s historic old town, this medieval Grade I listed building wascommissioned by the 3rd Earl of Leicester and would have been the entrance to the religiousprecinct known as the Newarke.

Originally called the Newarke Gateway, today the building is known as the Magazine Gateway, inreference to its use during the English Civil War as a gunpowder and weapons store and itssubsequent use as part of the barracks of the Royal Leicestershire Regiment.

Looking like a small castle, this unique venue forms an unusual and enchanting setting for film, photography shoots or a product launch.

A narrow spiral staircase leads up to the first floor and through an arch doorway into a snug room.Above it, the breath-taking upper floor is divided into two large rooms with a huge fireplace on theleft side.

Please note the building has drinking water, but no heating or toilet facilities. These can beaccessed nearby. Due to fire safety, maximum numbers on-site are strictly limited.
