Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday, November 15th. The meeting will be held in the Garden Room at 6:00 p.m. immediately following the monthly Board of Directors meeting. New board members will be announced and a report will be made on the “State of the Club”. All categories of members are welcome and are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting. Your input and opinions are important to shaping the future of Crown Colony Country Club. Complimentary light hors d’oeuvres will be served and a member bar will be available. There has been a great deal of activity at the Club this past summer

and, as we head into October, we are seeing an increase in tournament activity for the fall. Please see Ben’s page for details on all of the upcoming events on the course. The first Rotary Golf Tournament on October 3rd and the Ladies la-di-da tournament October 17 through 19 are just two of the featured events this month! Changes are being made to the Grill Dining menu and the new menu will be premiered in October. Be sure to join us in the Grill for our annual Oktoberfest Wine & Dine on the 19th. Bryan Harkness will be providing live entertainment and we will be offering some German wines specially selected to pair with the Chef’s specials for the evening. The Halloween Costume Contest and Party is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25th. We are moving the party to the Pool Pavilion this year where we will feature a pirate ship bounce house and will be screening the movie “Hotel Transylvania 2”. This is the perfect opportunity for the little goblins and ghouls at your house to try out that new Halloween costume. Our thanks to Lufkin ER

for their sponsorship of this year’s party! Business After Five on October 27th will feature a salute to our elected officials and is hosted by the Club each year at this time in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce. There will be complimentary seasonal snacks and beer and wine will be served. We hope that you will stop by and join in the fun! October marks the beginning of the 2016 Holiday Season. Whether for home or business celebrations, let our professional staff help you plan your event this year. We also offer on-site catering services. Call and book your space at the Club early as dates will fill quickly. We have the staff and the expertise to make entertaining easy! Our goal is to ensure that every visit to your Club is an enjoyable and memorable experience. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your family and guests. Your continued support of our mission to maintain Crown Colony Country Club as the premiere private club in East Texas is appreciated!See you at the Club!

ben’s Golf newsby ben burns, PGA Head Pro

This is some of the best weather for the year to play golf. I know it’s football season but you can play golf and hang out at the club to watch all the games with your friends and family. Upcoming, there are 2 great events that you can be a part of. The first one is our Sr. Club Championship on October 8th. We have changed the format slightly; if you want to compete you must be at least 50. The open division will play the white tees and is open to anyone. Then we have all other divisions based on your age and will play the Gold Tees. The second event is our Challenge Cup and you will see details below. We will be ready for you with our lounge areas and fire pits. You should be here! 2015 Challenge Cup Champions We have changed the format for the 2016 mGa Challenge Cup which is oct. 15 only. To try and get as many players as possible we have made this year’s Challenge Cup a one day event. Even if you have not played in a single event you are still eligible to play. anyone can play! Deadline is Wednesday, October 12th to sign up. The fun starts with us getting together on Thursday October 13th night at the picking party/meeting. Details of the party should be in the MGA area. All MGA members are invited to this picking party.

Our top 2 players for the year based on points will be our team captains. They will pick players that will compete in a Ryder Cup style format (Match Play). Each match will have a total of 3 points available. There will be 2 players playing best ball against another 2 players. The front nine, back nine and overall will each be worth a point. lGA newsby Mickey benton Hooray! At last, we have been experiencing cooler weather. Kinda gives you an added incentive to get back out and enjoy the weather and our gorgeous golf course. September was a slow month, golf-wise, for the LGA, but October is going to be very busy. First up is the Club Championship scheduled for October 4-5-6. A sign up sheet has been posted in the locker room and the entry deadline is noon Saturday, October 1. Flights will be championship and lower flights. There will be two flights of 10 teams in each flight. Each team consists of 4 players. Gross and net prizes will be paid, as well as day money for each day. The prizes and tee gifts are in and waiting to be awarded to the winners. Practice round is Monday, October 17, and competition begins on October 18-19. The final qualifying for the Babe of Babes will be October 20. This is your last chance to make the list of qualifiers and play on November 3 for the honor of the “Babe” for 2016. Competitors are: Cheryl Faircloth, M.V. Casper, Joan Meyer, Julie Zeagler, Connie Kennedy, Cindy Adler, Jan Kingham, Gayle Brent, Donna Hill, Mickey Benton, Susan Laws, and Melissa Abeldt.

The Member-Member is scheduled for October 26-27. There will be a sign up sheet in the locker room. Deadline is October 25 to enter. You don’t want to miss this one, so don’t delay in getting a partner and plan your costume. There will be a costume contest on October 27 before play. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the line on both days, as well as closest to the pin on the par 3’s. Other surprises will be in store, so prepare to have a fun two days. If you wear Halloween themed attire you will receive one mulligan on the first day of play. Good news for the LGA ladies who are 75 or older and are still playing golf, or would like to be able to enjoy a few holes of golf, we would love to have you let us know if you are interested. There are round gold tee markers set in the cart path, and when you find the same kind of marker in the fairway, you may play your tee shot from there. These markers are a little hard to find at times, but they are straight out from the cart path. These markers are also used by the junior golfers when they play. Many thanks to the pro shop for listening to the requests from the “senior ladies”. Helps us stay active and involved in this great game of golf.
