Worksheet: Puppets to cut out and play greetins. Song: Hello Bye, bye Flashcards: Character flashcards. Other: Puppet (ideally, same as one of the flashcard) Activity sequence: Hello 1) Welcome your class by saying Hello several times. Point to yourself and say: Im Belén. Say Hello to every child showing you are pleased if they say the same. 2) Introduce children: Go round the class greeting individual children. Approach them saying Hello, I’m… and give your name. Encourage them to respond with Hello, I’m Laura. Circle time / presentation 3) Hello song. Play it two times. (NORMALMENTE LA CANCIÓN VA EN EL APARTADO HELLO, PERO COMO SE LA TENDRÉ QUE ENSEÑAR, LA INCLUYO AQUÍ HOY COMO PRIMER DÍA) 4) Introduce characters: Hold a flashcard of one of the characters in front of your face. As you stand behind the card, pretend to be that character and introduce yourself saying: Hello, I’m ( Sam). Then turn the card over to face you and greet the character with Hello, Sam. Finally, as you put the characters flashcards away say: Goodbye Sam, Goodbye Linda, etc. 5) Yes! No! Pin up the flashcards and present the characters: This is_____ The pupils repeat after you. Then, point and say: This is___  Hello, (name). Yes / No. Hello, I’m Kelly. Goodbye, Sue. Who’s this? This is (name). Who is it? What’s your name? Where’s (name)? TRP actions

7) Who am I? The pupils sit in a circle. Explain the activity. One of thepupils sits in the centre and close his/her eyes. Choose a pupil to say:Hello, (Tina). The pupil in the centre has to guess who it is and respondby saying Hello, (Kelly). If Tina guesses correctly, Kelly goes in thecentre. If not, they must try with another person of the circle.8) Some actions: Say that the puppet (say his name) is going to showthem some actions. Let him say and demonstrate Stand up, Stretch,Sit down, Wave, Skip. As he does the actions, encourage the childrento copy them and join in.9) Greeting each other: Using had movements, indicate to the classthat you want them to stand up. Choose two children and put themfacing each other to demonstrate the activity. Crouch behind onechild and greet his / her classmate by name. The crouch behind theother child and respond in the same way. Act as if you are thechildren talking. Say Hello I’m Juan. Hello, I’m María. Ask the childrento go round greeting each other and introducing themselves.

To calm down children before worksheet:

 

Let’s make a train. Give your hand to the children nearest to you and leadthem by the hand dropping them off at their seats.

 

Quiet routine: Shhh! (hold your index finger to your lips)Be Quiet like a mouse. (pretend to be a mouse)In a little treehouse. (make a roof shape with your hands, overyour head)

Practice this rhyme two or three times the first day, so thechildren can learn it. You can use it to calm them down when it ’stime to worksheet work.

Worksheet 10) Say the instructions twice as you mime them. Ask the pupils to cutout the stick puppets. Provide any necessary help. With the help of a

pupil show this short dialogue:Teacher: Hello I’m Pluto (or whoever the puppet is).Pupil: Hello, I’m Goofy (same as above).

The pupils choose a character and go around the class meeting andgreeting the rest of the characters.
