Oral Exam Format

• Groups of 3 (or 4) students will be examined at the same time for 10 minutes

• Come only for the time that is given to you – please come on time

Oral exam will have 3 parts: • Part A – Jazz Chants and Tongue-twisters• Part B – Autobiography• Part C – Opinions and Descriptions

Part A: Reading (Jazz Chant, tongue twister)Each student will take turns reading a jazz chant and a tongue twister.

Part B: Autobiography Each student is given a question to ask another studente.g. “What was your favourite book when you were young?” (past tense) e.g. “What do you hope to do after you graduate?” (future tense)e.g. “What do you usually eat for breakfast?” (present tense)e.g. “I hope you don’t mind my asking, but have you ever…?” (polite question). The student who answers the question is then given a different question to ask the next student, and so on.

Part C: Opinions, Describing things

Each student is given an opinion question to ask another student - “If I had a million dollars….?” (conditional), “Pardon me, what do you think of..?” (polite questions).

Each student will be asked to describe something – an object in the room, what another student is wearing, a member of their family (family, occupations), their hometown.
