3. Write a brief commentary about the assignment, answering the following questions: What is the context of the assignment in terms of students prior knowledge and the other
topics they have been studying?
The students participated the previous day in brainstorming terms related to
what it means to be a manager. We put the work on the board and then each
group (4 groups) represented one of the four functions of management. Theyalso had to take the key terms and put them under the function of
management that represented that term. We have been studying the different
functions and today we pulled evaluating to discuss. In order to understand
what it means to evaluate, they had to evaluate a website.
What do the samples of student work tell you about the students level of understanding?
They were quickly able to analyze website and focus on mission statements and
sustainability.
How does the assignment help students develop their understanding?
It stated exactly what they should look for when evaluating something.
What do you plan to do next with these students?
The students will create concept maps discussing the four functions of
management.
