    Rationale for Lesson

On this lesson, I will take you to the France of 1900s to show you how this great country obtained this amazing landmark that is known nowadays worldwide: The Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower is a beautiful landmark in the center of Paris, the capital of France; and with this lesson I will be able to show you the Tower and a little bit of the city of love as well. Many people will not have the opportunity to visit so with this lesson, they will be able to see this wonderful country.

    Learning Archetype

Guided Tour. It was chosen a guided tour because it is the best way to show and describe a place (Paris, France) and to show the architecture and the history of it as well.

    Learning Objectives

The student will always be able to:

Describe France in the 1900s Identify the Eiffel Tower Describe the history of the Eiffel Tower Describe about the culture and architecture of France in the 1900s Identify the other landmarks that Paris has it

Instructions / Procedure / Mode (how is the class going to be taught)

    1. Have students discuss the importance of knowing other cultures. Have them discuss also what they know about France of today and of the France of the 1900s.

    2. When discussion about France and about the importance of other cultures finishes, have students teleport to PARIS 1900 to explore the city and the important landmarks that are so famous nowadays.

    3. As a group, have the students follow my avatar throughout PARIS 1900, pointing out various landmarks and telling the history of each one of them:

    i. Eiffel Tower ii. Arc de Triumph

iii. Notre Dame Cathedral iv. Moulin Rouge v. Buildings with the French architecture

    4. At conclusion of instructor-guided portion of tour, allow students sufficient time (20 minutes) to explore city and surrounding area on their own.

    5. When students finish with the own observations, have a group discussion again on what they learned about the France of the 1900s, the architectures, and the landmarks. Note if all students understood the lesson by asking questions and ask them to share their thoughts with the class.

    6. Once we finish the discussion there will be a quiz to check how much the learners actually learned in this lesson.

    Evaluation Strategies

The evaluation will be mainly informal discussion as a class at first and then there will be a quiz to know how much they actually learned. 1- I will be observing who will be able to answer most of the questions to know if

they paid attention and if they understood the concepts and the history of Paris.

2- Once we finish the discussion there will be a quiz to check how much the learners actually learned in this lesson.

Adaptations The only adaptation that may need to be made is for students who are unfamiliar with the Second Life interface. A survey will be taken prior to the lesson being implemented and those students will have the opportunity to attend a tutorial session on Second Life so that they are comfortable with the environment.

    Anticipated difficulties

The main difficulty that may be encountered will be technical. Because there will be so many students trying to access the Paris 1900s at the same time, there will be problems with students logging in and connecting to Second Life. Ample time will be spent prior to the lesson to identify any students unfamiliar with Second Life and work with those students to reduce the incidence of problems during the lesson.
