Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Virtue Explanation for PARENTS to kids: The real meaning of love is GOD. See, without God we would not have love or even know what it means. When we have God, we have love. One of the ways we show people about God is by showing them love. When we take special care of our family, our friends, people around the world, God’s creation like nature and animals...well, when we give this care to others, we show them what love is...we show them Who God is. After all...Who loves us the most, Who cares for us the best, and Who makes sure all our needs are taken care of? God. God is love! And guess what? God made a special place for us to hold His love, in our heart. The more I learn about God, the more love I have to give to others. Love is giving special care to others, just like God does for me. FOCUS for the month: Heart and hands. Our heart holds God’s love; our hands help to give special care to others.

We want our children to grow up knowing that GOD is LOVE. Love in today’s world is very, well, it’s selfish, it’s conditional, it’s materialistic, and it’s being spoiled. Love is not made out to be pure, selfless, committed, respecting. When you take God out of the picture you take love out of the picture because God IS love. There is nothing we can do, think, or say or anywhere we can go that will change God’s love because there are no surprises for God, He knows us totally and loves us anyway (Psalm 139:1-5). In fact, in Psalm 139:13-14 it says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made, your works are wonderful.” Now, that’s love.

STICKY VERSE: “Let us LOVE one another because LOVE comes from God... God is LOVE! 1 John 4:7-8 GNT This scripture is so awesome. It tells us to “love one another” then it tells us why...because love comes from God. In fact, God is love! Because God is love...because God loves us, we are to love others. That’s how easy it is. Loving others is always the right thing to do.

Thinking questions for “dinner time” conversation: 1. Where do we hold God’s love? Answer: We hold God’s love in our hearts,

the same place we hold our mom’s and dad’s love. We may not always be in the same room or may be able to “see” each other, but we know we are loved because their love is in our hearts. It’s the same thing with God’s love.

2. What are some ways that your “hands” can love others? Answers will vary: Some ways we can love others are: helping with chores, being kind to our siblings, obeying mom and dad, making a card for a friend/neighbor, etc.
