To be fair, this is not a new conversation. Increasingly overthe past few years, there have been questions raised andcriticisms leveled regarding lackluster performance, whichalso led to questions about the current structure of theEDC.

To that end, when I took over as Chair in October, I

announced that a Task Force was being launched toexamine the organization with the goal of improvingtransparency, accountability, and performance.

I was very focused on creating this group withrepresentation from all key stakeholders to have a voice inthe process including strong representation from theChamber, the EDC, and our public partners.

I am disappointed the public conversation erupted beforethe task force could begin a constructive discussion thatwould result in thoughtful recommendations.

As previously stated, I believe both organizations areimportant to the success of this community, and deeplyregret the Chamber has taken these actions.

I remain convinced there is a better path and a bettersolution, and stand by my belief that the best and mosteffective way forward is a transparent process anddiscussion.

When you put smart and committed people in the room,

I am proud of my long record of service and support to theChamber & the EDC, reflecting my belief that both are vitalto the success of our business community.
