Experience It! Norwegian Fjords The evolution of the fjords began some three million years ago, when Norway

was covered by an ice cap thinner along the coast than inland. With the arrival of

a milder climate, the ice began to melt and produce great waterfalls that logged

the soil and descended to the sea. Valleys were filled in by the ocean, creating the

fjords. Surrounded now by steep rocky mountains, dissected by cascading

waterfalls, and decorated with thriving fruit trees, the fjords are among Earth's

most inspiring landscapes. You’ll often find the Fjords of western Norway at the

top of annual must-see lists alongside the Pyramids of Egypt and the Grand

Canyon. This dramatic masterpiece of nature is a true wonder of the world,

where the air is pure, the water is clear, and nature is unspoiled. No photograph

can ever do justice to the Norwegian Fjords; it is a place that must be seen to be

believed.
