Lighting Design Colleges
ChamSys runs a program for colleges and universities that run courses in Lighting Design to help them to learn ChamSys MagicQ software.
ChamSys MagicQ software is free to download and free to use. ChamSys Magic download also includes the free MagicVis visualisation and MagicHD Media
Player enabling students to easily learn the software together with visualisation of the real lights and integrate Media player control.
ChamSys will provide MagicDMX Basic Interfaces free of charge to students on "real" lighting design courses - that is courses where the students can be
expected to have a professional career in lighting.
The course must be a complete lighting design course, not just a “lighting design” or “theatre” module as part of general education.
ChamSys requires that the course teacher provides the names, email addresses and MagicQ system ID of each of the students. In return ChamSys will
supply the course teacher with a kit with the appropriate number of MagicDMX Interfaces. To find out the 24 digit MagicQ system ID, each student must
install MagicQ v1.5.7.1 or above on their PC or Mac – the ID is found under Setup, View Systems, View Status, System, Sys MagicQ ID.
Completed MagicDMX Lighting course forms should be sent to your local distributor, if you are not sure who your local distributor is please send the
completed form to [email protected]
Terms and conditions
Valid email addresses and MagicQ System IDs must be provided for all of the students otherwise they will not be able to activate the MagicDMX interfaces.
Maximum of one MagicDMX Basic interface per student. Maximum of 20 students per course.
ChamSys will verify the information provided on the application form to ensure that it meets the required criteria and that the information provided is
correct. ChamSys reserves the right to refuse any application for any reason.
Should ChamSys prove any information on the application form to be false after having supplied the interfaces, then ChamSys reserves the right to demand
all interfaces are returned to ChamSys at the cost of the teacher/college.
Where ChamSys has a distributor within the country, ChamSys will provide the details of the students to the distributor for their use to provide offers of
training and other activities to the students.

1. Download the latest MagicQ version from ChamSys Website (www.chamsys.co.uk) 2. Run MagicQ and go to Setup, View Settings, View System, View Status, System and note down your 24 digit Sys MagicQ ID below along with your
name and e-mail address.
