• Promote research, training, information and documentation activities related to multilingualism as a means of social and economic development
• Provide an interdisciplinary area for analysis and reflection on the role of multilingualism in society’s globalisation
• Produce and disseminate knowledge on the importance of languages and promote mechanisms for change and further multilingualism
• Establish an international cooperation framework for academic training and collaboration with international research institutions
