WORD Network SUNDAY @ 6pm

Dear City of Praise Family,

The year 2014 is upon us. City of Praise, get ready. God is about to bless us corporately and individually. You have been a faithful people, and God is opening up the windows of Heaven to rain down blessings on your behalf. The promises that you have been waiting for, standing on and believing in will begin to manifest in your lives. Due season has begun, and the struggle is over. And God is so excited for you!

You see, it is in God’s interest as well as yours that He bless you. More important than what He does for you is what He does through you. As God turns all things around in your favor, you will be His advertisement. You will be the walking testimony to unbelievers of His grace, mercy, faithfulness and love. Your answered prayers and abundant blessings will be the very instruments that He will use to bring others to salvation in Christ. How can we do any less than to walk in daily thanksgiving unto Him? In this new year, as the blessings begin to manifest, may God also give you peace, wisdom and purpose. And may Heaven bear such witness through you that the world will see the mighty, loving and awesome God that we serve.

God bless you,

Bishop Joel and Pastor Ylawnda Peebles

I f God had a problem that only you could solve, but it wasn’t on your agenda, would you help?

What if God had a mission for you, but it didn’t include the plans you had for yourself, what would be more important to you? Well of course you will answer “God’s mission is more important!” But is it, really?

Well saints, God does have a problem and He has hand-picked you to solve it. The Word says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16). We do believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. We are saved, sanctified, and have been sitting under excellent teaching of the engrafted Word, with many of us even having had the blessing of sitting at the feet of the Apostle. Happy are we in our salvation, because we have the promises of God and we have eternal life, where there is no sickness, death, enemy, evil or sin. But there are still so many out there who have not heard the gospel. There are those who are lost in sin, and the only way that God can reach them is through you.

Never forget that if someone didn’t take the time to tell you the Good News, you too would still be lost. God is so in love with us all, and it is not His will that any should perish. God’s problem is that “ The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” (Luke 10:1). And if the Lord calls the unsaved the “harvest”, that means they are ripe for the picking. Yes, you may meet with opposition, and sometimes all you have to do is give your testimony, but give it with love and gentleness. God will do the rest.

As we move into the New Year, let us enter 2014 with God’s agenda on our minds and in our hearts. We were put on this earth to serve, so let us be Kingdom minded. When we share the gospel, our love must be like the love of Jesus. We willingly give up our own comfort so that others might join us in receiving God’s love and eternal life with Him. And of course, when you take care of God’s business, He certainly will take care of you. He knows the plans that He has for you, to give you a hope and a future. (Jer. 29:11) He has promised to give you the desires of your heart. But our desires must also coincide with His desires. And we must do our part. So I ask again—what is more important to you—a new car, or a new convert? One lasts for a little while before it needs repairs, and the other is for eternity.

How can you begin? Join us at the COPFM as we begin the New Year with the One Million Souls Campaign. Let us work together with a goal to bring no fewer than One Million Souls to Him. Visit us at www.cityofpraisechurch.com and click on “Gospel”. Then use it to save a soul. God has enough work for everyone. I love you all. May God bless you with an awesome New Year.

PSALM 139: 23&24

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-34

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

Holy Communion“Let a man examine himself ”

“Tarry (Pray) one for another.”Ask God to change the bread and wine from

its physical use to its spiritual use.

Prayer over the bread“As I partake of this Holy Communion,

when chewing upon this bread, my heart, my soul and my body are brought into

rememberance of the price paid for me at Calvary by Jesus Christ, my Lord. I hereby now receive this finished work of the Lord Jesus. Taking of this bread confirms in me that Jesus Christ my Lord took all of my

weaknesses, sicknesses and diseases on the cross, by whose stripes I am healed forever more. Glory to God for his goodness to me

through Jesus Christ my Lord! Amen!

Prayer over the wine“As I partake of this Holy Communion,

drinking of this wine of the vine confirms in me that I am linked to the major vine who is Jesus Christ, my Lord. This wine symbolizes his shed blood at Calvary on my behalf, which purged me from all my sins and presents me righteous before the

throne of the creator God who cannot look on sin. Glory to God for the finished work at Calvary through Jesus Christ, my Lord!

Amen!

Individual Survey and PollDear Friend,

Please take a few short minutes to complete this survey and email us at [email protected] or call 301.267.7760.

1. Has anyone ever told you that God loves you and that He has a great plan for your life? o Yes o No

2. If today were your last day here on earth, do you know for sure, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you would go to Heaven? o Yes o No

3. If you answered, “yes” to question #2, is that because you are a good person and/or because you attend church regularly? o Yes o No

4. Have you ever heard that the Holy Bible gives the following scriptures?

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” o Yes o No

“For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” o Yes o No

“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved?” o Yes o No

5. Did you know that you are a “whosoever”? o Yes o No

Here’s a quick prayer for you:

Lord, bless each person who reads this with a long and healthy life. Jesus, do a quick work in their

heart and make yourself so real to them. If they have never called upon your name, I pray that they will do so right now.

If you would like to receive the gift that God has for you today, say this with your mouth, and believe it in your heart:

“Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart. I confess you Jesus as my Lord. Forgive me of my sin. Set me free. Jesus, thank You that You died for me. I believe that God raised You from the dead. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, the peace of God, and the joy of the Lord. Give me a passion to reach the lost, a hunger for the things of God, and a holy boldness to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am saved. I am born-again. I’m forgiven and I am on my way to Heaven because I have Jesus in my heart. Thank You Jesus!”

When you asked Jesus to come into your heart and to forgive you, He heard you and He did so. All of your sins are now forgiven. Always remember to run to God and not FROM God because He loves you and has a great plan for your life. That’s VERY good news.

6. Did you say the above prayer? o Yes o No

Please send your answer to question #6 to [email protected] or call 301.267.7760. If you answered yes to question #6 text the word “SAFE” to 71441.

Thank you for completing this survey.

Our Ministries

P ROFESSIONAL SINGLES

The Mission of the City of Praise Singles Ministry is to strengthen single men and women of God

with the knowledge and understanding that they are PARTICULAR and COMPLETE in the Lord Jesus Christ first. Our ministry will offer “living single” support systems and opportunities for Christian fellowship and empowerment tools to help one another in ministry, in purpose and in life skills. The COPFM Singles Ministry will be founded and

focused on the Word of God, which says, “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:2-4 (KJV)

Vision: We envision that every Youth that participates within this ministry will not only embrace a Kingdom mindset, but will also make disciples of others, showing forth the love of Christ by way of the Holy Spirit, and glorifying God in unity

Mission: Our mission is to: IMPART, ENDOW, EMPOWER, and DEPLOY our youth into their Kingdom assignment within this earth realm, inherently influencing their communities, homes, ministries and families in bringing glory to God the Father.

Impart: We are mandated to impart the Love of God which is in Christ Jesus within the hearts of our youth toward an ever increasing faith by way of His Holy Spirit. As they receive God’s Word, our youth’s true identity becomes evident and ultimately lived within the purposeful will of God The Father. This act of impartation is the necessary process for our young people to grow up in Christ, firmly established toward every good work within their destiny.

Romans 1: 11-12 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

Endow: We are mandated to endow our youth with the necessary principles toward living a godly and wholesome lifestyle, fortifying their faith while living out God’s will within their homes, church, schools and communities. The resolve of our youth is and always will be to produce God’s glory by way of His Kingdom.

Hebrews 13:20,21 May the God of peace…equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Empower: We are mandated to empower our youth by way of demonstrating God’s love, as well as obeying His divine and purpose filled will for our lives, establishing a Godly character and discipline within them. Our youth embrace being empowered as being Godly, in both word and deed.

1 Timothy 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

Deploy: We are mandated to deploy our youth into the nations, with the assignment of making disciples of all. This is our final mission within our assignment to infiltrate the kingdom of darkness by all means necessary and manifesting the Kingdom of God. Our marching order will be impeccably demonstrated by way of God’s truth.

Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This is a Christ centered program that gives people the resources and relationships to help

recover from life’s hurts, habits and hang-ups. It is a program for anyone struggling with past or current dysfunctions or compulsions, whether they are affecting their own life or the lives of those around them. The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power

in our lives through the Eight Recovery Principles found in the Beatitudes and Christ-Centered Twelve Steps. As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power— Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power.

The Bible clearly states that “all have sinned.” It is my nature to sin, and it is yours too. None of us is untainted. Because of sin, we have all hurt ourselves, we have all hurt other people, and others have hurt us. This means we all need repentance and recovery in order to live our lives the way God intended. You have undoubtedly heard the expression that “time heals all wounds.” Unfortunately, it isn’t true. We frequently talk with people who are still carrying hurts from 30 or 40 years ago. The truth is, time often makes things worse. Wounds that are left untended can fester and spread infection throughout your entire body. Time only extends the pain if the problem isn’t addressed.

This recovery program is forward-looking. Rather than wallowing in the past, or dredging up and rehearsing painful memories over and over, you learn to focus on the future. Regardless of what has already happened, the solution is to start making wise choices now, and to depend on Christ’s power to help make those changes.

This recovery program emphasizes personal responsibility. Instead of playing the “accuse and excuse” game of victimization, this program helps

people face up to their own poor choices and deal with those things about which they can do something. We cannot control all that happens to us, but we can control how we respond to everything. That is a secret of happiness. When we stop wasting time fixing the blame, we have more energy to fix the problem. When you stop hiding your own faults and stop hurling accusations at others, then the healing power of Christ can begin working in your mind, will and emotions.

Who:

People who hurt from past childhood issues, struggle with an addiction, are plagued by worry, anger or depression, or struggle because of other hurts, hang-ups or habits.

What:

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery ministry sponsored by the City of Praise Family Ministries. We want you to experience freedom!

The Celebrate Recovery Ministry at the COPFM is open to the public every Friday night from 6:30pm-9:30pm. There is no pre-registration, screening or sign-up. Just come out and experience how your life can be changed. We open the door by sharing our experiences, strengths and hopes with one another. We meet at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, 7601 Hanover Parkway, Greenbelt, Maryland. If you would like to speak with someone right away, please send an email to [email protected]. Someone from the CR team will quickly get back to you.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY MINISTRY (Continiued)

CHILDREN’S CHURCH

Our purpose is to create an atmosphere for children to have fun while worshiping God

and learning about his love for them. Children are led towards God so they can experience him

for themselves at an early age. The methods used are puppet shows, games, arts & crafts, dramatizations, songs, dance, discussions, teachings, videos,

picture books, books and of course the Word of God. Children are shown how to enter the presence of God; trust God as a loving and kind father; and to focus on him so they learn to live a life of peace. (Isaiah 26:3 NKJV- You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you,

because he trusts in you). Children are taught what salvation is, and why they must turn towards God and away from sin, in a way that is meaningful to them regardless of their age. Children are exposed to other ministries so they can begin to see where they fit into God’s master plan. We know that children are an inheritance from the Lord and the future. We pray for the children under our care and treat them with love, kindness, and respect, and value them as gifts from God.

MARRIAGE MINISTRY

MEN OF INTEGRITY

Our mission is to enhance marriages and family relationships based on Biblical principles.

We seek to encourage, empower and nurture married couples through the study of God’s Word while building strong family relationships. We assist couples in every stage of relational development to create a God honoring marriage that thrives on commitment, intimacy and growth. Our goal

is to show the world that marriage is ordained by God, and that when we marry, we enter into a binding covenant, with God at the very center of that agreement. We seek to help guide couples who are struggling to always look first to God’s Word, “The Holy Bible.”

Instructions for Christian Households

(Ephesians 5) Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing] her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—for we are members of his body. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

(Proverbs 20:7) The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

Our purpose is to develop Christ-like mature Priests

who are equipped to service their God and Church, while providing character driven leadership to their families and communities. This is accomplished through small cell communities which provide a place of safety, communion and

accountability. Men meet together to pray, talk, encourage, develop solutions and sharpen each other. Ntegrity Groups prepare men to properly participate and benefit the ministries of the City of Praise by guiding men into first being comfortable with who they are, so they realize that God loves them as they are. We then lead them through the process of emptying, educating, empowering and engaging.

• Empty-worldly thinking • Educate-Word thinking • Empower-with the Word • Engage-use the Word

Our Ministries (concluded)

Our purpose is to take God’s Precious Daughters to a height where the gift inside of them is

used and it flourishes to epic proportions. Kingdom Queens are women who are part of The Royal Dynasty, true royalty that only belongs to children of God. This time we are in is a true transformative season where women shall discover and grow to have a greater

appreciation of the goodness within them, their inner and outer beauty. Together, we will forge through

the paths of self-identification and resolve the inner conflicts which prohibit us from walking in Kingdom Confidence. As you take this amazing journey, do so with an open heart and embrace the challenges during this growth experience, as it is pre-ordained to make you stronger and wiser in your walk of faith. The pathway to loving yourself is of course in the Word of God. Have frequent conversations with God (2 Timothy 2:15); forgive yourself and others (Mark 11:25); proclaim freedom from a victim mentality (Philippians 3:13&14); embrace one another’s differences (Psalms 139:14); spread seeds of harmony (Psalms34:14); utilize a gratitude journal (Habakkuk 2:2); habitually laugh out loud (Proverbs 17:22); maintain a positive circle of friends (Proverbs 13:20); and love the way God loves (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).

Evangelism is letting people know according to Romans 10:9 and Acts 4:12 how to be saved.

Communication of these and other scriptures to an unsaved culture is for the sole purpose of translating individuals from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. The methods used to preach (proclaim Word of God to men from men under assignment from God) are unlimited and evolve as culture and technology changes, but the message itself of salvation is eternal and unchanging. IT IS THE HEART OF GOD. Power Evangelism is evangelism with God confirming his Word and signs following, according to Mark 16:20. Our prayer is for the FIRE OF GOD to FALL. Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. (ACTS

4:29–30 & Ephesians 6:19–20 NIV) This work is not limited to the office of an evangelist in Ephesians 4:11, but is for all who are wise and seek to do God’s will. Every action we take as the body of Christ is geared towards saving souls either directly or indirectly. The devil is not interested in money, buildings or cars. HE IS AFTER SOULS. He wants company. We each have a pulpit of influence beyond the walls of the church building.

Vision and Entrepreneur Development CurriculumOn earth there are seven mountains or systems that operate our

world. Believers in the School of Visionaries need to know which mountain is theirs to dominate. Once you realize your placement, you can take the mountain you have been designed to dominate. In any system or mountain (the list describing each mountain below is not exhaustive) it includes secretaries, salesmen, and all others connected in any way to these fields. Learn where you should dominate; then take the mountain.

Church—This is the mountain everyone thinks they must stay in. We are all in this mountain as believers, but not everyone is called her full time.

Family—This is the mountain that covers all aspects of the family unit.

Education—We all must pass through this system. It includes educators, teachers and all who are connected to it.

Government and Legal—Politicians, lawyers, and those in the legal field are a part of this mountain.

Arts, Sports and Entertainment—This includes athletes, actors, artists, etc.

Media & Technology—This is the area of television, internet, and all technological arenas.

Business and Finance—Entrepreneurs, as well as those in banking and investments are a part of

this system.
