Listening
Our school lives are seen as a time for
learning, but in reality our whole lives
should be a time for learning. Part of how
we learn is by listening, Jesus is talking in
Mark 4:9 (NLT) “9 Then he said, “Anyone
with ears to hear should listen and
understand.”
I enjoy listening to the radio. I usually listen
to it when I'm in the car driving around
town. Of course, I have certain stations I
like to listen to. Sometimes, as I am
listening to a particular station, it starts
sounding fuzzy and static-y, making it hard
to hear the music or the words that
someone is saying. This usually occurs
around the shops in Hare street. I usually
just put up with it until I’m in a better
reception area. In fact while it is static-y I
just listen more intently so I can understand
what is said.
Our life and relationship with God are very
much like the tuning of the radio. We allow
other things to interfere with the message
God has for us. If what is going on around
us can’t be changed we need to focus more
intently on God and that will help us
receive the message and also this causes the
static to move into the background and not
be the dominant thing in our lives.
But there are times when we are having
difficulties in our life and we need "tuning"
ourselves. When this happens we need to
“listen with understanding” and then make
the changes needed so that we are
obedient to God, and can hear him clearly.
Enjoy your week and keep on learning.

Praise and thanks for the welcome at Lifesource Church yesterday and their prayers for us as a team of Board, Staff,
Parents, Volunteers and Friends at RCCC as we advance as a school community this year.
For God’s comfort as some within our school community mourn the loss of loved ones at this time.
For healing and peace as some of our past and present students face health issues.
Thankfulness for the way God has been leading us through many areas as we have commenced the school year.
For the staff, residents and families connected with BUPA aged care here in Echuca and that we will be a blessing to
them as our Ovens class visits there this week.
Parents and friends are welcome to a time of prayer for the school each Monday during the
school term, 9am to 9.30am, in the meeting room off the front office.

Safety Drills at RCCC
Like most organisations, trials of their emergency evacuation
and lockdown routines are carried out from time to time to
train people in their operation and to be sure the process is
effective. While it will be somewhat of a surprise when we
do, we will be having such a trial in the coming couple of
weeks and please don’t be alarmed when your child comes
home with a story about such an event. If a real event like
this occurred, we would be aiming to promptly
communicate more directly with parents and other affected
people.
ICE CREAM AND ICY POLES FOR SALE
On Tuesday & Thursday lunchtime this week the SRC will be
selling ice cream in cones, and icy poles. Cost is 50c each.
Winter Uniform Requirements
As we are looking ahead to having winter uniform stock on
hand for our families’ needs, can you check the needs of
your child/ren and place your order now please?
Uniform order form/pricelist is enclosed in todays’ envelope
for you to check your requirements and advise us what you
would need to purchase. This is not a request for payment at
this time but simply to gauge the need for stock on hand.
Alternatively if you wish to purchase directly, feel free to
drop in and check out what we have in store. There may be
second-hand uniform available also and we gratefully accept
any good quality returns to help any family in need.
WATER GAMES DAY
Coming up on Tuesday the 26th of February is the annual
water games day! This is a great day to get involved in as we
splash around and enjoy time in the pool with our friends.
With many games and activities to keep you in the water,
come ready to battle it out and see who can win the most
points for their team! Permission notes will need to
be returned to the front office by Wednesday the
20th of February. Parents are welcome at the pool.

Open Water Learning Experience: 2019
On Thursday, 14th of February, all students from Grades 3 to Year 10 had the opportunity
to participate in an Open Water Learning Experience program in which they learnt vital
skills in CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation), lifesaving and rescuing distressed victims
in a variety of scenarios.
Students learnt about the dangers and potential threats whilst swimming and engaging in
a variety of water sports. The venue of Maidens Inn Holiday Park was a serene and
placid venue for the students to engage in this program; the weather was a splendid and
sunny 27 degrees and the students were mostly exemplary in their conduct, attitude and
representation of our fine college.
