Conflict

The problem or complications in a story.

The man and women are fighting.

Denotative MeaningThe dictionary meaning of the word

She proved him wrong with a denotative meaning.

FlashbackReturning to an earlier time in a story for the purpose of making something clearer in the present.

They had a flashback of good times

The action or events in a story.

There is a plot in every story.

Entertain

To use writing to entertain

Funny books are to entertain

A true statement that can be proven.

Baseball is a sport that is a fact.

A statement that requires a value judgment; it is what someone thinks or believes.
