Re protective measures against

the corona virus.

Perhaps some of these measures give us a chance to reflect on

what we do and why. Surely it’s obvious that while our local commu-

nity doesn’t have the corona virus at the moment, it makes sense to

take preventative measure now. To take these measures when the

virus is here, it would be too late.

Till this virus crisis is over we won’t be able to drink from the

chalice.

Till this virus crisis is over we receive Communion only in the

hand. To receive Communion in the hand was the natural

way people received Communion from the Last Supper

through the early times of the Church. Cyril, bishop of Jeru-

salem in the 4th century gave this instruction to newly bap-

tised Christians:

we won’t have water in the holy water fonts at the doors of the

church.

Eucharistic ministers should wash their hand with an alcohol

based gel

No bodily touch, neither hand shake nor a hug

Sacrifice for the sake of other is high valued. Each one of us should

ensure others safety and healthy environment.

Blessings, Fr Vim A
