“Liv”, meaning the most elementary concept of “life” in Swedish, goes deep into the

atlases of History where the most profound origin of our existence comes from and

which harbours our present, past and future. Water as the origin of life: all comes

and returns to it; it is the place of birth, transformation and rebirth. In the series,

the metamorphic qualities of water are to be highlighted. Taking into account the

fundamental elements that shape up life and noticing how time causes ephemeral

and eternal changes is decisive.

Because beneath its almost limitless breadth, lie the concepts of the indefi nite,

uncertainty and inscrutability. The artworks in this project depict decontextualised

masses of water that play a leading role in space and nearly absorb us; eternal

universes of matters, ancestral modes and common experiences. The artworks are

guided by the emotional experience, convinced as they are that the time of water is

at the same time our own time. They are like maps of life, with no plan or pattern,

where only the refl ection of the fl ow of the human existence and the fl uctuations of

its desires and feelings can be read.

According Victor Hugo, world master of Romantic Movement: “L’Art c’est l’azur”

(Art is blue). Art, this time, is the blue mirror in which we look ourselves to fi nd the

refl ection of the experience of our intimate being reencountering itself with the

collective life experience.

The artworks in the “Liv” series are not in the landscape, but they are the

landscape itself. They contain no temporal, referential or human elements. The

sea exists in time. Despite its appearance of changelessness, it seems to hold

back or invalidate the passing of time; something which has sought to do from the

remoteness of History and to which it inevitably belongs.

The project talks about places common to Mankind in which to get immersed

and lost. Places analogue with the temple, yet devoid of stigmas, marks, or implicit

sins. Liv refers to the god/man who inhabits all and who is the original metaphor.

Liv is the Kantian sublimity that limits itself both to the “state of spirit” and to man’s

encounter with nature, the one with the infi nite.

Liv

“Liv”, nombre que en sueco remite al concepto de vida más elemental, se

adentra en los atlas de la historia que nacen del origen más profundo de nuestra

existencia, que pertenece a nuestro presente, pasado y futuro. El agua como el

origen de la vida: todo sale de ella y vuelve hacia ella; es el lugar del nacimiento,

transformación y el renacimiento. En la serie es importante subrayar las cualidades

metamórfi cas del agua. Lo decisivo es tomar en consideración los elementos

fundamentales que confi guran la vida y ver cómo el tiempo produce sus cambios

efímeros y eternos.

Ya que en su extensión, casi sin límites, subyace la idea de lo indeterminado, lo

indefi nido y lo insondable, las obras del proyecto, hablan de unas masas de agua

descontextualizadas que son protagonistas absolutas y dueñas del espacio y de

nosotros mismos; universos eternos de materias, modos ancestrales y vivencias

comunes. Las obras están guiadas por la experiencia emocional, convencidas de

que el tiempo del agua, es al mismo tiempo el nuestro propio. Son mapas de vida,

sin programas ni líneas trazadas, donde simplemente leer el refl ejo del curso de la

existencia humana y de las fl uctuaciones de sus deseos y sentimientos.

Como diría el mismísimo Víctor Hugo, maestro mundial de movimiento

romántico: “L’Art c’est l’azur” (El arte es azul). Y en este caso es el espejo

azul donde mirarnos y buscar refl ejada la experiencia de nuestro ser íntimo

reencontrándose con la experiencia vital colectiva.

Las obras de la serie “Liv” no están en el paisaje, sino que son el paisaje. No

aparecen en la obra elementos temporales, ni referenciales, tampoco humanos.

El mar existe en el tiempo. Pese a su apariencia de invariabilidad parece detener

o anular el paso de las horas. Algo que el hombre busca desde las lejanías de la

historia y al que inevitablemente pertenece.

El proyecto habla de lugares comunes a la humanidad donde sumergirse y

perderse. Lugares analógicos con el templo, aunque vacíos de estigmas, marcas

y pecados implícitos. Liv remite al dios/hombre que todo lo habita y que es la

metáfora original. Liv es lo sublime kantiano que se limita en tanto “estado del

espíritu” como encuentro del hombre con la naturaleza, el uno con el infi nito.
