NeuroPure primary rat astrocytes are freshly prepared from micro-surgically dissected regions of day 18 embryonic Sprague/Dawley orFischer 344 rat brain. They contain greater than 95% astrocytes and areshipped live in nutrient rich media that keep the cells viable for 2 weeks. The following astrocytes are currently available from Genlantis:

Live Primary Neuronal CellsLive Primary Neuronal CellsNeuroFECT™ Transfection ReagentThe Best Way to Deliver DNA into NeuronsNeuroFect™ Transfection Reagent is a novel cationic polymerformulated specifically for optimal transfection of primary neurons.During transfection, the polymer/DNA complexes (polyplexes) areendocytosed into the cells, where the polymer is biodegraded into non-toxic small molecules. The ability of the NeuroFect reagent tobiodegrade in vivo means cytotoxicity is reduced to a minimum.
With the NeuroFECT reagent, transfection efficiency of plasmid DNAreaches up to 65% in primary neurons. In contrast, the transfectionefficiencies with other commercially available reagents typically rangebetween 5% and 20%. Compared with electroporation, which requirescostly equipment and frequently results in cell death, the NeuroFectreagent is cost effective, easy to use, and offers maximum cell viability.
