The handiwork of God was placed in the hands of the late Harry and Alice Felder on August 28, 1937 in Bowman, South Carolina. Lizell was the oldest of five children. She made her transition on Sunday, May 9,2004. Her sister Harryzell F. Thomas pre ceded her in death in August of 1987.

During Lizell©s early years, the family relocated to Columbia, South Carolina, where she received her education at the Waverly Elementary School, Booker T. Washington High School and Benedict College. As she matured musically and spir itually, she accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina. Following her graduation from Benedict College, she immediately began to transfer her belief of the importance of an edu cation to the many lives she taught and nurtured. In 1992, she retired from the Richmond County Public School System.

Lizell Felder Beasley was married to the late James Samuel Beasley who preceded her in death in January of 1982.

A highly acclaimed musician with a rich range of experience, Lizell trained choirs, taught piano lessons and accompanied various classical, opera and gospel artists. She served as music director in the area of piano music throughout the United States and served twelve churches throughout the Augusta area. She was the musician and director of the Sanctuary Choir, First Metropolitan Baptist Church.

Coupled with her musical gifts, Lizell was an extraordinarily unselfish, caring, loving and giving person. She possessed an exemplary love for family, friends and acquain tances; enjoyed traveling and was a "passionate shopper." :

Lizell was a member of First Metropolitan Baptist Church; Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.; Valley Park Neighborhood Association; the Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1955; Richmond County Retired Educators Association; a volunteer with The Augusta Symphony; and a participant at the Augusta Aquatics Center. She was the founding organizer for the first Jones Family Reunion and the Benedict College Chorale. She received numerous awards and citations for her accomplishments and tireless contributions. Cherished among them were "Sigma of the Year" and " Lizell Beasley Day," May 19, 1998 an honor bestowed her by the City of Augusta in concert with Ward Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Her legacy will be reflected in her motto, 1 Timothy 4:14, "He who buries his talent is making a grave mistake. Neglect not the gift that is in thee." and in the lyrics "When You©ve Been Blessed, Pass It On." She will be remembered by many of us, the recip ients of the blessings she received and passed on to us. She will be remembered for sharing her talented gifts with hundreds of young people who have benefited from her instructions and encouragement to develop to their full musical potential while studying at the Beasley©s School of Piano Music.

To cherish her memory are one sister, Selena F. (Robert) Gillespie, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two brothers, David H. (Barbara) Felder, Columbia, South Carolina and Tom E. (Jeanne) Felder, Blythewood, South Carolina; three nieces, Robin M. Gillespie, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Linda G. (Chad) Everett, Landenburg, Pennsylvania and Kellee Felder, Columbia, South Carolina; four nephews, Kevin, Thomas and Timothy Felder, Blythewood, South Carolina and David Felder, Columbia, South Carolina; one aunt, Eloise Jones, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one step-son, Willie James (Elnora) Beasley, Stone Mountain, Georgia; three goddaughters, Tabitha Dixon, Augusta, Georgia, India Hester, Marietta, Georgia and Allicent Move, Augusta, Georgia; one godson, Rev. Reginald Copeland, Louisville, Kentucky; a special friend, Zechariah Keith, Belton, South Carolina; other relatives and many close friends.

How can I say thanks for all the things You©ve done for me, Things so undeserved, yet You gave to prove Yottr Love for me. The voices of a million angels could not express my gratitude.

You have left us with so many fond memories that we will always reflect on and cherish. Tou are getting your family reunion with Mom, Dad and Harryzell, and the rest of us are having one today.

Tour Augusta family and all the young lives you touched made you a legend in your own time. We thank God for our big sister Lizell who taught us how to love, how to shop, how to stand up for ourselves and how to give. To God be the glory.
