Learn. Grow. Lead. The first year of college can be an intimidating experience for many freshmen. They are away from home for the first time and are still developing a sense of self. The staff of Stetson East plans to facilitate this difficult transition by helping their students discover who they are as student leaders. How, you ask? The first semester will be devoted to personality assessment and self discovery. "I want the students to see how leadership is defined on multiple levels," says Residence Director Emily Johnson. "If you weren't the captain of your high school soccer team, that doesn't mean you're not a leader." Emily and her staff have executed a "finding your foothold" welcome event that was very successful (see photo). Will these residents achieve thier leadership goals? Only time will tell (but we're sure Emily and her staff will keep us in the loop)! Keep leading the pack, Stetson East! October 2011 | issue no: 1 Got questions you want to see answered?
