Marriage (AppointmentofPrincipal Registrar, Registrars, etc.)Notice 1971

Commencement : 11th August 1971

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Marriage Act,section 147 of the Constitution of the Federation and of all other powersenabling it in that behalf, the Public Service Commission of the Federationhereby makes the following appointments :°

‘1. For the purpose of the Marriage Act—

(a) the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, is ofPrincipalhereb inted the Principal Regi £ Marri Registrar ofereby appointed the Principal Registrar of Marriages, Marriages,

(6) The Senior Assistant Secretary on the staff of the Permanent ‘¢Secretary, Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, is hereby appointed the Cap. 115.Registrar of Marriages for the marriage district of Lagos, and

(c) The Executive Officer in charge of the Marriage Registry, on thestaff of the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, ishereby appointed the Deputy Registrar of Marriages for the marriagedistrict of Lagos.

2. For the purposes ofthe MarriageAct— Appointment(a) theofficers mentioned in the second column of Schedule1 hereto are of rrerringes

herebyseverally appointed registrars of marriages for the marriagedistricts and theirmentionedin the first column, and deputies.

(4) the officers mentioned in the third column of the said Schedule 1(or, where no officers are specified, the officers next in rank to the officermentioned in the second column) are hereby severally appointed deputyregistrars of marriages for the marriage districts mentioned in the firstcolumn to act in the absence or during theillness or incapacity of theregistrar of marriages.

3,.—(1) This notice may be cited as the Marriage (AppointmentofPrincipal Citation,Registrar, Registrars, etc.) Notice 1971 and shall be deemed to have come tmentand.into operation on 11th August 1971. canellation.

(2) The enactments mentioned in Schedule.2 hereto are hereby cancelled.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Marriage Act and ofall other powers enabling mein that behalf, the Head of the Federal MilitaryGovernment, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, hereby makes thefollowing Order :— .

_ 1. For the purposes of the Marriage Act Nigeria is hereby divided into Division ofthe marriagedistricts specified in Schedule 1 to this Order. Nigeriainto

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Marriage Act and ofall other powers enabling me in that behalf, I, the Federal Commissioner forInternal Affairs hereby give the following directions :—

1. The marriage office in respect of each marriage district mentioned in thefirst column of the Schedule hereto shall be the office specified in relationthereto in the second column ofthe said Schedule.

2.—(1) This instrument may be cited as the Marriage (Location ofMarriage Offices) Directions 1971 and shall apply throughout the Federation.

(2) This instrument shall be deemed to have come into force on 11thAugust 1971.
