THE TRIUMPH SPORTS CAR DISPLAYED AT THE LONDON MOTOR SHOW IN 1952 GAVE VISITORS A PREVIEW OF THE TR MARQUE. THE AIM WAS TO PROVIDE A COMPACT HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORTS CAR AT A RELATIVELY LOW COST.
By 1953 motoring enthusiasts wanting a true 100mph British sports car without breaking the bank could do little better than purchase a TR2. From the beginning the TR2 embodied fun, glamour and style; it was a fast, torquey sports car, boasting an impressive top speed and good fuel economy.
Rally successes from 1954 onwards proved it was also competitive, rugged and reliable.
For the next 28 years Triumph continued to produce TR sports cars with innovative new technology, such as disk brakes, and great cutting edge design. Each model provided performance, style, and real competition potential, whilst remaining firmly within reach of the man (or woman) on the street.
Since 1970 the TR Register has existed to champion the TR and to make owning one a great experience.
The club focuses on using TRs as they were intended and is driven by likeminded people who are happy to help each other celebrate and enjoy their cars. Today the Triumph TR is recognised as one of the most desirable classic cars to own by huge numbers of enthusiasts, and the TR Register intends to keep it that way.
