Development, documentation and maintenance of procedures, instructions and presentations

Setup of wireless network and local server

IT support (hardware and software) to keep members productive – Windows, Office, back-up, NAS, setup of printers, PCs, etc.

2013 Account Manager/Project Manager | CLS Communication

Swiss communication and translation company with appr. 600 employees worldwide – 11 at the Copenhagen office. CLS is now a part of Lionbridge – an even bigger translation company. I was project managing large and small translation projects and assignments from clients within for instance the banking, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical industries. My position was a maternity cover where my previous experience quickly made me a productive and efficient member of the team.

Responsibilities | Results:

Creating quotes for translation jobs (new and existing clients)

Managing a portfolio of translation orders including planning and creation of orders in CLS's extensive Lotus Notes system – always timely delivery to the clients

Contact and cooperation with new and existing clients as well as freelance translators and translation agencies in Denmark and abroad, plus other CLS offices primarily in London, Madrid and Switzerland

Coordinator on a change management project involving the transfer of project management of Danish translation contracts to colleagues in London

Involved in the company's LEAN initiative (suggestions for improvements, participation in online meetings).

2004 - 2012 Localisation Specialist | Nokia Mobile Phones R&D

At the time the world's leading manufacturer of mobile phones with a development site in Copenhagen with approximately 1,400 employees. This site was closed down in 2012, and all jobs were abolished. I was responsible for the localisation of the user interface for the entry market and mid-range mobile phones in close cooperation with UX designers, software developers, testers, marketing, support teams in Finland, translations agencies, etc.

Responsibilities | Results: Project management:

Localisation projects covering approximately 90 languages, coordination with R&D, translation agencies, etc. to ensure that translations were implemented on time

Implementation of 25 new languages in Nokia's entry-market phones. Organisation of translation/review workshops in Denmark, India and Russia

Large-scale file management

Creation, review and editing of new English texts in cooperation with UX designers and software developers – operator specific texts and translations.

Technical tasks:

Text releases, language packs for mobile phones

Error management and correction – systematic approach where I also handled correction in languages I do not master

Participated in spec conversion project where UX specifications were converted from PDF into Visio. I quickly picked up the routine and played a major part in the project finishing significantly ahead of schedule.

2003 Project manager | Bowne Global Solutions

Translation company later acquired by Lionbridge. I was hired on a temporary basis at a busy time. Due to my experience I was quickly a productive and efficient member of the team.

Large and small software localisation projects. 2000 – 2003 Localisation Team Manager | Navision/Microsoft Business Solutions

Leading Danish developer of ERP systems with app. 500 employees and offices in many primarily European countries. In 2002 Navision was acquired by Microsoft, who reorganised and closed down a number of jobs, including mine. I was a Team Manager in the department Build, Localisation & Release and responsible for five team members working on various technical aspects of translation and localisation of the product Navision Attain.

Responsibilities | Results:

Administration, communication, reporting and coordination of the team's tasks and strategy

Team budget responsibility and staff management, and development of introduction programme for new team members

Responsible for information to and support of the country offices

Editor and co-writer of the department newsletter

Organiser of training workshops and international meetings.

Localisation Project Manager | Navision

I was a project manager in the department Product Localisation & Release, where I supported the country offices who carried out the localisation and translation of the products for the local markets. I cooperated with most internal departments.

Responsibilities | Results:

Project manager on various internal projects, e.g. a customer survey plus a project to create awareness of and promote a database covering the local functionality in the Navision products

Localisation representative in several software development teams to advocate the importance of internationalisation and to coordinate localisation issues.

1998 - 2000 Production Manager | Heitmann Nordic A/S

Newly opened Nordic branch of a German translation company which was later acquired by L&H Mendez, who reorganised and shut down a number of jobs,

including mine. As a Production Manager I was part of making this a successful and

profitable company with motivated employees (we were approximately 10). I developed various administrative systems and routines e.g. a time registration system plus a job handling system, and author of our staff handbook. I was also responsible for IT, e.g. involved in setting up and running the local network, phones, purchase of PCs, plus general support (hardware and software).

1991 - 1998 Project manager, translator, localisation engineer | Berlitz Translations

International translation company – since acquired by other owners. This is where I started my career in software localisation and founded my knowledge about this area. I started as a translator and localisation engineer, but quickly advanced into project management. I was involved in establishing software localisation as an independent unit, and I project managed several large Microsoft projects (e.g. Windows 95) and often several projects simultaneously. We were app. 10 full-time employees, and often brought in extra translators for the larger projects.

Responsibilities | Results:

Project manager and localisation engineer (and general IT support)

Responsible for the daily handling of incoming and outgoing jobs

Account manager of translation projects covering several languages

Contact with freelance translators and coordination of their contributions to the projects
