Main Functions- information about various events - events next to actual location of the user -> locatify - selectable categories and sub-categories- gesture interaction- route planner (on smartphone via QR code)

Proceeding- brainstorming - user profile - storyboarding (raus? )- paper prototyping- evaluation / user tests

Interviews- 5 participants / aged 21-27 / 2 female, 3 male / 3 students, 2 young employees / mostly shared housing- main general findings:
- smartphone being THE device of choice when going out- news & entertainment applications most frequented- location-based applications are less common than expected (in Germany)- average waiting time for subway service is about 7min- very strong sense of “loss while waiting”
Proceeding

Interviews#2
- findings concerning our system:- APIs to various social networks are generally requested

Design Modifications- make screen rather big to draw attention towards it- quick and easy-to-navigate interface is imperative!- main design principle to pursue:
“provide a fun and easy to use way to help user deciding what to do”
póëíÉã aÉëáÖå=éêçÅÉëë `Ü~ääÉåÖÉë qÉ~ã `çåÅäìëáçå lìíäççâ

Design Modifications#2
- fun aspect mainly achieved through the nature of gesture control technology
- ease of use aspect- intuitive navigation structure- avoid unnecessary actions

15
Paper Prototype- spotlight, which tells you where you should be standing to use display correctly- information to the distance in the map view as well as a time specification which is permanently visible- QR code functionality and the origin of the rating scale were not explained- system reset function triggered by the user leaving the field of view of the camera, protecting privacy of each individual user- confusion due to the function of the “hot-button”
póëíÉã aÉëáÖå=éêçÅÉëë `Ü~ääÉåÖÉë qÉ~ã `çåÅäìëáçå lìíäççâ
18
List of changes- home screen with logo and instructions (picture 1)- map legend and unique markers for actual position and destination (picture 2)- location rating changed to “QYPE-rating” -> clarify the source of the recommendation (picture 3)- removed back-button in the location popup window (picture 3)- explanatory text for the QR-code scan functionality added (picture 4)- additional route information (travel time and distance) added in the map view (picture 4)- display of approximate walking time added in the public transportation option of the navigation (picture 5)- warning message added to prevent users from leaving the detection area of the Kinect camera

Conclusion- iterative procedure is essential -> can help to fix big issues first
- constant feedback during all design phases is central -> novices have a different point of view
- interdisciplinary team is important -> different experts can round off the product
“good prototyping can help designing a product according to the wishes of the targeted users”

Outlookshort-term- connect to social networks- invite your friends to come- enable partner interaction (split screen to compare both selections)- provide a “get free drinks” option for action moves (dance, etc.)
long-term- detect your mood and finds the perfect alternatives for you
if only we had more time ...
