LOG 101 Course Description

• “Acquisition Logistics Fundamentals provides a broad overview of the role of acquisition logistics in the systems acquisition life cycle and systems engineering processes. Modules cover the logistics-relevant aspects of requirements identification, life-cycle costing, integrated product and process development, sustainment logistics, supportability analysis, product support, contracting, and contractor support.” –DAU iCatalog

• “New” 101 (Version 9) initially deployed in July, 2010

• Revision drafted Summer, 2011—will be Version 10

– Principally to reflect recent policy/guidance changes

• Past history indicates high demand…#1 most popular LOG course (usually), #3 overall at DAU

– Data distorted for FY11 due to Atlas outage

LOG 101 is the “gateway” course to DAU LCL training – First Impressions!

PLD Assessment

• LOG 101 needs ongoing vigilance:– Covers a broad range of acquisition logistics competencies– Highly susceptible to changes in DoD policy– Foundational logistics course –now certification course for other career

fields

• Significant update in FY 11– Increased emphasis on Affordability/Efficiency– Changes to reflect DTM 10-015– Changes to reflect new Integrated Product Support Elements (IPSEs)– Reorganized to “flow” better– Service-specific topics down-scoped– But…principal aim was, “Do No Harm.”
