rolling country side that is rich with natural attractions. Sites

that include Ohio Caverns, Piatt Castles, Marmon Valley

Farm, Mad River Mountain, Marie’s Candies, the Orr

Mansion, Indian Lake and many, many more. Visitors can ski,

camp, or bicycle while enjoying the natural landscape of our

beautiful waterways, and rustic trails.

Logan County offers a menagerie of local landmarks

including the first concrete street in America (Court

Street), built in 1891 by George Bartholomew,

McKinley Street, the shortest street in America at “about 15

feet” and Campbell Hill, the highest point in Ohio at 1,549

feet above sea level. Ohio Hi-Point Career Center is currently

located at this site. Zanesfield, a quaint village of less than 300

people, is full of history. Named after Isaac Zane, who was

captured by a Wyandot Indian tribe in 1762, Zanesfield has

rich and beautiful landscapes for everyone to explore. Indian

Lake is known as the 5800 acre water playground with 30 miles

of shoreline.

MAD RIVER MOUNTAINCelebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012, Mad RiverMountain is the place for winter family fun, offering awide variety of activities. You will find 24 trails, 144acres if skiable terrain, 12 lifts, 133 fan guns, 2 terrainparks, midnight madness, and the Avalanche TubingPark which has 10 chutes, 2 lifts, and 600 tubes. MadRiver Mountain is located off State Route 33 withinone hour from Columbus, Dayton, Springfield, andLima. Mad River Mountain’s season runs Decemberthrough March (weather permitting)

INDIAN LAKEBeautiful Indian Lake is your place torelax, renew and rediscover. Rent acottage and boat for the weekend andexplore nature, go fishing or just relax.The lake offers numerous inlets withopportunities to dock and dine.Indian Lake is known throughout theregion for the Beach Spectacular &Fireworks display, which many visitorschoose to view from the water or fromOld Field Beach. Indian Lake StatePark hosts over 80 fishing tournaments annually, there is a 3-mile paved bikeway open to hikers and joggerslocated on the West and South Banks between Old Field Beach and RussellsPoint. There are two public swimming beaches, Old Field Beach and Fox Island.

PIATT CASTLESCelebrating being open for tours 100 years in2012 the Castle Mac-A-Cheek and CastleMac-O-Chee located just outside of WestLiberty, were built in the late 19th century bytwo brothers, Brigadier General Abram Piattand Colonel Donn Piatt. Discover where thePiatt family came from, how they made aliving, and how each generation adapted theirhouse during changing times. Both PiattCastles are listed on the National Register ofHistoric Places.

OHIO CAVERNSThe largest and most beautiful of allOhio Caves. The Caverns are openyear round and feature and exquisite display of stalactite and stalagmite formations. The diversity of formations andunexcelled coloring are all the more interesting because they are still in the processof development. The Caverns stay a constant 54 degrees Fahrenheit, perfect for avisit any time of year.

ORR MANSION & LOGAN COUNTY MUSEUMIn 1906, lumber baron William J. Orr began building his dream home inBellefontaine. The Mansion took two years to build. The Logan CountyHistorical Society has overseen the extensive historic renovation of the mansion inorder to bring the home back to his original grandeur. The Logan CountyMuseum is located at the rear of the Orr Mansion. The museum includes morethan a dozen rooms dedicated to a particular theme, area or subject of LoganCounty or American History.

HOLLAND THEATREBuilt in 1931, the Holland Theatre is a historic,atmospheric motion picture theatre. The interior of theauditorium is a one-of-a-kind recreation of a Hollandtown, lined with replicas of canal houses and windmills. Itis the only Dutch-themed theatre in the United States andis on the National Register of Historic Places.
