A not-for-profit performing arts center that presents and produces a wide variety of performing arts, advances arts education and creates a destination that is a superior location for entertainment, business and housing, thereby strengthening the economic vitality of the region.
PlayhouseSquare understands its vital role as and educator in our community, and is committed to providing arts learning opportunities of the highest quality to enrich the loves of students, families, teachers and adults. PlayhouseSquare’s Commuity Engagement & Education Department is unique in the performing arts industry for the variety of programs it offers, the partnerships it initiates and the access it provides students, educators and aspiring artists to performing arts professionals. Since its inception in 1998, the Community Engagement & Education Department has offered thousands of events, workshops, classes and more, most with minimal or no fees, to people of all ages from all areas of Northeast Ohio. The generous support of individual and corporate donors and foundations makes it all possible.
Teen Advisory Councilapplication due august 31The PlayhouseSquare Teen Advisory Council is open to teens ages 14-19 who live in Northeast Ohio and
have participated in a PlayhouseSquare Teen Program for at least one year. This group is charged with
reviewing and making recommendations regarding programs and policies that affect the teen audience
at PlayhouseSquare. Only you can tell us what is important to you and your peers, and we want to hear
your opinions. The Teen Advisory Council meets twice per season; the first meeting will be on Sunday,
September 19, 2010.
STArS (Students Take A role at the Square)application due september 17The STARS volunteer program provides you with on-the-job training in customer service and the performing
arts combined with an opportunity to give back to the community. You can choose to usher at Thursday
evening, Saturday evening, Sunday matinee or Sunday evening KeyBank Broadway Series shows. STARS
are required to attend an orientation about PlayhouseSquare on October 3rd and to commit to working each
scheduled date. The STARS program is open to high school students. Note: Each track is limited to 30
STARS; apply early to get your first choice!
STAr Leadersapplication due september 17The STAR Leaders program is open to teens 16-19 who have participated in the STARS program for at
least one year. STAR Leaders are expected to ensure quality customer service at PlayhouseSquare by working
with an assigned group of STARS. STAR Leaders are required to attend orientation on October 3rd and to
commit to working each scheduled date. Note: Each track is limited to 10 STAR Leaders; apply early to get
your first choice!
STAr reportersapplication due september 17STAR Reporters review KeyBank Broadway Series performances just like professional critics. Students
selected for this role will receive admission to Press Night for all KeyBank Broadway Series shows and must
post their reviews to the PlayhouseSquare STAR Reporter blog. STAR Reporters are expected to post links
to their reviews on their Facebook, MySpace or Twitter page(s) (or other social networking sites). Training
is provided by local theater critics. Applicants must submit a writing sample and be able to meet strict
deadlines. Only 10 STAR Reporter roles are available, so be sure to apply early if you are interested. The roles
are open to teens ages 14-19 who live in Northeast Ohio.

Reviews must be posted within two days after Press Night.
On a separate sheet, provide a 2-3 page (Arial, 12 pt. font) writing sample that shows both creativity and analysis. Writing samples will not be returned. Submit with completed application to PlayhouseSquare,
