KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3
Thanks to everyone for your efforts and commitment to Flexible and Remote Learning. The feedback we have received has been very positive as we have changed a few things this time around. The teachers have been very creative in how they are presenting activities to students and sharing across the school … it’s a real team effort! It has been fantastic and greatly appreciated to have so many of our families check in to see how we are going at school. We truly have an unique and very special school community! It is important to remember and ensure your child/ren complete the Literacy and Numeracy learning tasks that are posted each day. This ensures that sequential learning takes place and mirrors what usually happens in our classrooms. Students are expected to upload the required learning tasks each day. It is important they do all the tasks whether they want to or not. Remind students that there are opportunities to choose the extra curricular activities they want to do. what activities they want to do. Thanks for your understanding and support.
Since emailing you all our KCPS On-Line Expectations I have been joining class
WebEx meetings. It has been pleasing to see the majority of our students following these to ensure maximum participation for everyone in a safe environment. However, there are still a few students who unfortunately are not following them. It is really important that these expectations are reinforced by you to help the teachers.
It was great to see so many of our families as they picked up the next fortnight hard copy learning packs for our F/1/2 students. Well done on everyone who remembered to bring back readers to change them over for a new lot.
This week we are going to introduce a whole school on-line Assembly on Thursday morning at 9.00am. Families can log on together. Assemblies will be a weekly event and will be hosted by our School Captains Emily & Tayah. I will email
families the meeting number and code as it is different to the class WebEx meetings. We may experience a couple of hiccups but we will work through these. I will open the meeting at 8.55am for a 9.00am start. I envisage these will take 10 to 15 minutes. Our KCPS On-Line Expectations will apply except for wearing headphones for families logging in on the one device. Fingers crossed everything goes to plan.
We are in the midst of working out when and how to do our Parent/Teacher Interviews. We had initially planned to do them in the first week of September prior to the Stage 3 restrictions. We are hoping to finalise what this may look like this week and get information out to our families shortly. Please check your emails for this information.
I am applying for a Shade Sails Grant through the Department of Health and Human Services. Our
application is for shade sails over our playground areas and sandpit. I have nearly completed the draft copy to proof read and cross check against the criteria. The closing date for this grant has been extended to Friday 11th September.
Please do not hesitate to reach out and contact me if you need assistance during this difficult and challenging time. I have attached some information from the DHHS Website regarding Stage 3 Restrictions for your information.
Debbie Humphries Proud Principal of K.C.P.S.
REMINDERS Round 14 Footy Tips need to be emailed to Debbie on Thursday 21st August by 9.00am.
Students must wear headphones on WebEx meetings ~ thanks!
On-site Attendance Forms for Week 8 are due this Thursday 27th August by 3.00pm.

Beach Hats for Miss H Miss H was on-line with Mrs Moulsdale’s F/1 class last week and read them a story
called “Now That’s A Hat”. She set the students a challenge to design her a hat for
the beach that needed to be water proof. Here are the hats she received.
A big thank you to Ava, Jo, Mike, Jarvis and Chloe M
for my gorgeous hats!

Round 13 Wrap ~ Indigenous Round
Friday 21st August started Round 13 at TIO Stadium in Darwin, between the Suns and the
Blues. The very inaccurate Blues 7.18.60 managed to score a 33 point win over the
Suns 4.3.27. This was Carlton’s sixth win of the year and leaves the Blues right in the
hunt for their first appearance in finals since 2013 with 5 rounds to go.
On Saturday the Bulldogs hosted the Demons at Metricon Stadium. Six unanswered goals
from the Dogs turned a 7 point Demons half-time lead into an unassailable 27-point buffer
at the final siren. Final score Bulldogs 12.8.80 to the Demons 7.10.52.
The scores were level at 3/4 time at Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Hawks. Only
4 points separated them with barely 2 minutes to go, when Zak Butters burst through
a stoppage to kick a goal and seal a 10 point victory for the Power.
Back at TIO Stadium in humid and sweaty conditions the Bombers trailed by 15 points at the
final change against the Tigers. However, Richmond were able to hold off the fast-finishing
Bomber to claim their 7th win in their last 9 games as their pursuit of a third flag in 4 years
gathers more momentum. The very accurate Bombers 10.1.61 lost to the Tigers 10.13.73.
For an injury depleted Swans side, the positives were hard to find. The Dockers piled on 6
unanswered goals on its way to a 3rd victory in 4 games. The Dockers scored 7.8.50 to the
Swans poor 2.7.19.
On Sunday the Crows hosted the Cats at Adelaide Oval. The score line did not indicate the
battle the Cats faced as the Crows trailed by just 9 points heading into the last quarter. The
Cats kept its top two hopes alive with a 28 -point win over Crows, 9.11.65 to 5.7.37.
The Lions hung on to 2nd place by the skin of its teeth, edging out the Saints by 2 points in a
nail biter at the Gabba on Sunday afternoon. Final score the Lions 6.14.50 to the Saints
7.6.48.
The Eagles finished their latest run of matches at Optus Stadium in style, with scintillating
ball use and the brilliance of Nic Naitanui too much for the Giants in the 9.7.61 to 7.7.49 win.
The Magpies 10.5.65 defeated the Kangas 5.5.35 at the Gabba. While the victory was by no
means convincing, it was important. The result lifts the Magpies to 7th on the ladder with just
4 matches remaining in its season, creating a valuable two-game buffer between itself and
9th place Melbourne. Footy Tipping Stars of the Week ~ Congratulations to Bomber Boy, Little Bomber,
Matt & Cassie S, Mrs O, Narkle, Rocket, The Old Don and Tom Will Do who all
picked 9 out of 9 winners this week and won $3.25 each. Special mention to the
McCully’s as 3 out of 4 of them picked 9 ~ Well done!
Footy Tipping Ladder Leaders ~ at the completion of Round 13: Mrs O joined Pie
Time at the top of the Leaderboard on 78. Tom Will Do is quietly moving up the
ladder holding 2nd place on his own with 77. Then on 76 is Specky Magee, The Bolt &
Who Am I? Kit Cats is holding her own on 75. Then on 74 is Dylan’s Kangas,
Fighting Fury, Narkle & Tradie Sam.
Round 14 Jackpot is $26.00
Footy Tips need to be emailed to
on Thursday 27th August by 9.00am.
Good luck tipping everyone!
