Papermaking This Paper Making Workshop with Michelle from Paperazzi Design Studio is 3 hours of hands-on, creative
fun! She will encourage you to reuse, reinvent and recycle and turn your paper scraps, veggie waste and
garden cuts into your own handmade paper. You will learn the ancient art of paper making from start to
finish! From basic pulp paper making techniques, to pulp production, forming, couching and drying, you
will make beautiful finished handmade paper you can take home. You will get all materials supplied to
make your own paper! Notes and paper making recipes to continue your learning. Feel free to bring along
a selection of flora from your garden and an apron if you like. Bookings required.

Paper Marbling You’ve probably seen paper marbling before; you may even have tried your hand at it. Let us take you beyond the basic to create stunning designs with beautiful colours and patterns.
In this workshop you will master traditional marbling techniques, free-form techniques, different marbling mixtures and material marbling. Have fun creating your own marbled paper, material marbling and see demonstrations of more advanced techniques. Marbled paper is great for children and adults alike and can be used to create beautiful gifts…or to keep for yourself! When: Saturday 4 January

1. Arashi Shibori Fabric Dyeing The first of our series of fabric dyeing workshops is Arashi Shibori dyeing. The cloth is subjected to twisting
and scrunching onto a long pipe and secured with bands, so that portions of it resist the dye when the
whole piece of cloth is immersed in a dye bath. The result leaves a beautiful random coloured texture on
the cloth. Watch the magic happen after you wash out the fabric. No previous experience is necessary. You
can do each workshop individually or the whole series for a complete dyeing experience!

Patchwork – Quilt top in a day! Have you always wanted to make a quilt but didn’t know where to start? Or think that you don’t have the

2. Procion Fabric Dyeing
Join textile artist, Lorraine Rogers in the second of the three workshops she is presenting on fabric dyeing.
In this workshop, Lorraine will show you how to dye cotton fabric using a low water method. The
instructions on how to achieve gradations of colour. Getting the values right leads to a strong and
interesting design in your work. Participants will be working with six basic colours that will be premixed.
Instructions will be given for safely mixing your own dyes at home to use. Bookings required.

Midnight Magic Sewing Event Have you ever been to a Midnight Magic? If this is your first time at a Midnight Magic, this is how it works.
A group of crafting enthusiast bring their sewing machines (or hand sewing, knitting or whatever craft they
like) and their projects and they sew and craft from 4pm until midnight! Everyone brings something to
share for dinner, some bring wine or something to drink with dinner and then it’s sew, chat, laugh, eat,

Natural Plant-based Fabric Dyeing Are you curious about how to create sustainable, non-toxic dyes from plant materials? Discover how to use materials readily available in the kitchen or garden to create beautiful sustainable natural colour in textiles. Japanese Bookbinding In this 3-hour workshop with Paperazzi Design studios resident paper artist, Michelle Lackenby, you will
learn a variety of Japanese binding stitch techniques and patterns and create your very own books to take
home. The techniques covered include simple Japanese stitch, Japanese stab binding, Hemp stitch and
tortoise shell binding. Each technique builds on the last and all notes and materials will be supplied so you
can create your own set of soft cover books to take home. Michelle will demonstrate the art of
Suminagashi, also known as Japanese Marbling, guiding you through the process step-by-step, before
creating your own beautiful marbled papers. Come along and have a fun afternoon creating your very own
handmade books combining Japanese binding and paper marbling techniques! No experience necessary

EDUCATION KUMON Kumon is an individual learning method. Students start with the level where they can attain a perfect score by studying on their own. The worksheets have been designed to allow students to figure out how to solve problems on their own.

SPACES FOR HIRE Venue hire is available for meetings, small parties, cultural events, special occasions, launches and classes. The
venue has a whiteboard, audio visual equipment, audio equipment, seating for 80 people and 14 trestle style
tables. The venue has spaces suitable for a range of classes using indoor or outdoor spaces. A kitchen to
