    Louisiana had begun feld evalua ions o using ground ire rub-

    ber (G ) in our HMA mix ures by 1994. L C publishedFinal epor 393 a er a seven-year evalua ion o fve feld proj-ec s ha included eigh es sec ions and six G produc s. Te

    ollowing fndings are repor ed: Te G we process is an excellen me hod or reducing

    crack propaga ion. esearchers recommended ha asphal cemen binder

    specifca ions be developed and implemen ed o allow heuse o he G in a we process in HMA.

    Te use o G modifed HMA mix ures should increahe li e-cycle o HMA pavemen s.

    In 1998, L C began evalua ing he use o G modifemix ures under accelera ed pavemen es ing. Findingprojec included: Te wearing course mix ure using G showed similar

    labora ory proper ies when compared o he convenpolymer modifed mix ure.

    Similar ruting resul s also occurred in his compariso Te base course mix ure using G showed improved

    labora ory proper ies when compared o conven ioncourse mix ures.

    Lower ruting was also repor ed in he base course Gmix ures.
