Important Dates February 13 th : Brazilian Carnival Celebration from 11:00-12:30pm in the cafeteria. February 14 th : Chinese New Year Assembly starting at 1:00pm in the Theater. Chinese Temple Fair for Lower School from 1:30- 2:30pm in the Black Box. February 15 th – 25 th : Chinese New Year Holiday. There will be no school during these days. March 15 th : Lower School Assembly featuring 3J starting at 8:15am in the Black Box. Principal’s Coffee Morning on Student-Led Conferences at 9:15am in room 210. March 16 th : Mid-semester progress reports sent via scis- parent email. March 22 nd : Student-Led Conferences. This will be a half day for students. LS WEEKLY BULLETIN Weekly Bulletin 22 February 9, 2018 opportunity to participate in a variety of Chinese cultural activities such as, calligraphy, cherry blossom painting, kungfu, the dragon dance and many others. The temple fair, located in and around the Black Box will take place from 1:30- 2:30pm. At 2:30pm students will return to their classrooms to prepare for dismissal. All families are invited to attend this fun cultural event. However, if you plan on attending the Temple Fair and decide to take your child home with you afterwards, please be sure to inform Mr. Stu Ren the transportation coordinator as soon as possible. As stated in the caption above, students have enjoyed ample time playing outside this week. Unfortunately, due to the high AQI readings last week, there were several days where students stayed inside and played in the indoor play spaces. Please know that we take the AQI readings very seriously and in the event the AQI is at 200 or above, students are kept indoors. Multiple times each day Nurse Lynn checks the AQI and immediately informs teachers if students need to be kept indoors. We also encourage parents to be cognizant of the AQI readings and keep your children indoors if the AQI reaches 200 or above. Congratulations to the students in 2M who hosted a successful learning celebration this week where they shared their nonfiction writing focused on How- To and All About books. Lower School News and Announcements On Monday, SCIS-Pudong teachers who attended the HKIS Literacy Institute in mid-January presented to faculty on information learned from the various workshops they attended. ECE teachers and Mandarin Assistants also had an opportunity to debrief on recent professional development conferences attended. Three of the ECE Teachers and one Mandarin Assistant recently participated in the ACAMIS Early Years Conference at Hangzhou International School. Monday was a great afternoon of professional learning for all.
