West Texas A&M earned the right to host the event with the program’s 19th LSC Championship with a perfect 16-0 record to mark the second straight year and 16th me overall they have finished the league season unbeaten since 1986. WT has won 22 straight including taking their last 36 league matches dang back to last season. The eight-team, single-eliminaon tournament consists of four first-round matches on Thursday, followed by two semifinal games on Friday evening and the championship match on Saturday at 5 p.m. The top eight teams in the LSC will compete for the 2014 tournament championship. In addion to winning the tle, the LSC tournament winner will receive the league’s automac berth into the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship. The WT Athlec Media Relaons Department will provide live stats and live video for the championship games, the webstream is powered by Stretch Internet and is available on mobile devices. Acon starts on Thursday at 12 p.m. with No. 3 Angelo State against No. 6 Eastern New Mexico followed by No. 2 Texas Woman’s versus No. 7 Cameron at 2:30 p.m., No. 4 Tarleton State against No. 5 Texas A&M- Kingsville at 5 p.m. and No. 1 WT versus No. 8 Texas A&M-Commerce at 7:30 p.m. WT won the 2013 LSC volleyball tournament championship with a 3-2 victory over ASU in Canyon, Texas. LSC VOLLEYBALL LSC volleyball teams are 147-111 overall this season. The squads are currently 15-13 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athlec Conference teams, and 20-14 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues in the NCAA South Central Region. PLAYERS OF THE WEEK OFFENSIVE Kat Evans, Cameron University, JR, Pearland, Texas, Pearland HS Evans guided the Aggies from a 2-0 hole at Texas A&M-Kingsville to a stunning five-set victory with a career high 26 kills while having an aack percentage at .305, and scoring 29.5 points. She was a force in the final three points of the match with CU trailing 14-13 in the fiſth set; Evans had the tying kill, a service ace to take the lead, and the assist to score the winning point against TAMUK. The 26 kills on Saturday put her 11 short of 1,000 in her career at Cameron with one regular season match remaining. DEFENSIVE Kenya Alexander, Tarleton State University, JR, Fort Hood, Kan., Wyandoe HS Alexander, the naonal leader in blocks per set, posted her third double-figure block effort of the season with a career-high 13 blocks against the Rambelles Friday. She also added nine kills and a dig for Tarleton. SETTER Kayla Hebert, Cameron University, SO, McKinney, Texas, Heritage HS Hebert was a crical asset for Cameron in their 2-0 comeback at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday. She need 47 total assists, 39 in sets three through five aſter the Aggies switched from a 6-2 to a 5-1 offense. CU responded and hit .277 during that me span compared to .057 in first two sets. She also provided 18 digs for her seventeenth double-double of the season, and had the game winning point for the Aggies in Saturday’s match. OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Brianna Sotello, Angelo State University, established a new career-high with 24 kills in a five-set win over Tarleton State last Friday at the Junell Center and finished the week with 38 kills for the Belles. Sotello has emerged as an offensive threat for the Belles over the last month and enters the postseason with 182 kills and 189 digs. She finished last week with 4.75 kills per set against TSU and Lubbock Chrisan and also supplied 37 digs, four blocks and two aces. Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, ended her freshman regular season with a 20-kill effort in last week’s game against Angelo State. Roberts had 22 kills against the Rambelles on a .213 hitting percentage to go along with 18 digs for her team-leading 15th double-double of the season. Lauren Bevan, West Texas A&M University, had another strong weekend for the Lady Buffs as they ran their season win streak to 22 matches with home wins over Texas Woman’s and Texas A&M-Commerce to conclude the regular season. The Ventura, California native registered 22 kills in six sets to average 3.67 per frame to go along with a service ace, 14 digs and four total blocks (1 solo, 3 assisted). The senior outside registered her 14th double-double of the season on Saturday afternoon in a Senior Day week of A&M-Commerce with 10 kills on 31 swings to hit .290 along with 10 digs and two total blocks. Shelby Wilt, Angelo State University, had 6.00 digs per set with 24 digs in a five-set win over Tarleton State before also having 24 digs a three-set loss to Lubbock Christian in a non-conference match on Saturday at the Junell Center. Wilt finished the weekend with 48 digs and now has 527 digs this season and 2,389 digs in her record-setting career at ASU. Wilt is averaging 5.55 digs per set coming into the postseason for the Belles. Agatha Gibbons, Eastern New Mexico University, had 14 blocks and averaged 1.17 b/s defensively for Eastern New Mexico. She set a career-high with eight block assists and tied her career-best of 16 kills in the Zias upset win over Texas Woman’s in the regular season finale to clinch the sixth seed in the LSC Tournament. She also had four blocks at New Mexico Highlands and two rejections against Texas A&M-Commerce. Gibbons had 39 kills, averaged 3.25 k/s and recorded a team-high .232 attack percentage in the three matches as well. Alexa Johnson, Angelo State University, supplied 54 assists to help lead the Belles to a five-set win over Tarleton State last Friday in their LSC finale and then had 30 assists in a loss to Lubbock Christian on Saturday. Johnson averaged 10.50 assists per set for the Belles during the week and enters the postseason with 962 assists this season with a 11.32 assists per set average. Kameryn Hayes, West Texas A&M University, continued to guide the powerful WT offense this past week as they finished the Lone Star Conference schedule unbeaten for the second straight season with home wins over Texas Woman’s and Texas A&M-Commerce. The Cypress, Texas native registered 21 kills on 48 swings to hit .354 on the weekend with 45 assists (7.50/set), a service ace, 13 digs and two total blocks in the pair of sweeps. Hayes registered her 16th double-double of the season on Saturday afternoon as the senior registered 12 kills on 29 swings to hit .310 to go along with 22 assists and seven digs. The Lady Buffs hit .262 as a team. Emily Medlin, Tarleton State University, had a 30-kill effort for Tarleton State against Angelo last weekend. The freshman setter also had a career-best 17 digs en route to her second career double-double.

LSC NOTES (Submitted by LSC SID’s)Angelo State The Belles earned a five-set win over Tarleton State last Friday in their LSC finale, but dropped a three-set match to Lubbock Christian on Saturday to finish the regular season with a 19-7 overall record and an 11-5 conference mark. ASU is the third set in this week’s LSC tournament and will play ENMU at 12 p.m. on Thursday. The Belles have made the last four

LSC Championship finals and the past three NCAA DII South Central Championships. ASU enters the postseason having won seven of its last nine matches.

Eastern New Mexico Eastern New Mexico ended the regular season with a 1-2 week. The lone victory was a major one for them as they shocked Texas Woman’s in five sets. Along with Texas A&M-Commerce’s loss at West Texas A&M, the Zias clinched the sixth seed in the Lone Star Conference Tournament. Agatha Gibbons was a standout both offensively and defensively. She led the team with 39 kills, 3.25 k/s, .232 attack percentage, 14 blocks and 1.17 b/s. In the match against the Pioneers, Gibbons set a career-high with eight block assists and matched her career-best of 16 kills. Bree Anna Lucero was second on the team with 28 kills, 2.33 k/s, 11 blocks and four service aces. Karra Day paced the team with 61 assists while Kennedi Catano added 53. Courtney Lawson had a team-high five assists during the week and tied her career-high of 23 digs in the five-set win over TWU. This week ENMU plays at 11 a.m. MT in the LSC Tournament against 3rd seed Angelo State. Should the Zias win, they would face the winner of Texas Woman’s/Cameron at 4 p.m. MT on Friday.

Tarleton State Tarleton State dropped its regular season finale to Angelo State in a five-set match last Friday. The TexAnns finish the regular season with a record of 20-7 and earned the No. 4 seed in the LSC Tournament.

Texas Woman’s The TWU volleyball team finished the regular season with a 18-9 overall record and 11-5 in the Lone Star Conference. For the second straight season the Pioneers tied for second in the LSC standings and advanced to their 12th straight and 17th overall appearance in the conference championship tournament. TWU will be the second seed in the tournament after winning the tiebreaker over Angelo State. Freshman Elizabeth Pennington leads the team with 338 kills, .320 hitting percentage, 42 service aces and 131 total blocks. Senior Jaqueline Santos is second kills (295) and total blocks (91). Sophomore Mallory Kuechle is third in kills (282) and service aces (23) and second in digs (321). Senior Morgan Wilson is the leaders in digs with 572 and second in service aces with 25. Junior Joey Redwine has a team-best 922 assists.

West Texas A&M The #23 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M concluded their regular season in style this past weekend as they swept past Texas Woman’s and Texas A&M-Commerce in Canyon to move to 30-3 overall with a perfect 16-0 mark in the LSC. It marks the 16th time since 1986 and the second straight campaign that the Lady Buffs have finished with an unblemished record in league play. WT enters this weekend’s

LSC Tournament in Canyon as the top overall seed, carrying a 22 match win streak into the event. The Lady Buffs will face-off with the eighth seeded Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. inside of the WTAMU Fieldhouse “The Box” in Canyon.
