As many of you know, this year’s Large Scale Service Project will be integrated into our annual International Convention- culminating into the ultimate six day experience known as CKIx!

With that said, it is important to note that despite this change, the overall event will still very much remain service-oriented at its core, kicking the week off with many of the LSSP festivities we’ve come to know and love.

The following newsletter is meant to provide members with a brief teaser of what’s to come throughout the LSSP portion of CKIx. This includes a preliminary schedule of the week’s agenda, a variety of fun service projects we’ll be taking part in, and fellow-ship activities our LSSP committees have been hard at work planning over these past few months.

Please, take some time to read over the publication and learn more about what’s in store in just a few weeks! • Shivam Patel, LSSP Publicity & Marketing Committee

The LSSP Fellowship Sub-Committee is excit-ed for you to join us this year at CKIx! We have come up with various icebreakers and team building activities that you can expect to do with your LSSP teams. We’ve also planned many interactive activities for our fellowship night to celebrate our time in Nashville, com-monly referred to as ‘Music City.’

Finally, we hope to raise some money for The Eliminate Project with YOUR help. Our team leaders have volunteered to be auctioned off to eat oddly flavored baby food such as “Mac and Cheese and Vegetables” or “Chicken Gravy and Vegetables” to benefit The Eliminate Project. If you’d like to see your team leader eat these oddly flavored jars of baby food, bring some spare change and put it towards your favorite (or least favorite) team leader in Nashville! • Kelly Chan, LSSP Fellowship Committee

If you are coming to Nashville this June for CKIx, make sure to take some time to get to know the Music City!

There are plenty of attractions to see while you enjoy your stay at the Loews Van-derbilt Hotel. Feel like walking to a well-known place in Nashville? Walk about 5 blocks and you will get to Centennial Park, home of the iconic Parthenon. You can get access into this beautiful Parthenon that right in the middle of Centennial Park!

If you don’t want to do that, you can rent a bike at Centennial Park and take a nice bike ride around the area.

Another attraction option (which I highly suggest) requires you to take a taxi there. Make sure to have your taxi or car take you to the Adventure Science Center. Yes, this place may be for kids but I know college students will have fun here!

There are many different activities for you to play in. One of my favorites was going into the space exhibit, something you have to see for yourself...

...If you end up going here, make sure to bring your student ID because you get a discount!

Of course, you also have the option of heading downtown where there are plen-ty of exhibits, museums, and stores to check out. Please keep in mind it is a 30 minute walk or you can take a taxi down.

The downtown Nashville area is very busy, especially if there is a concert going on at The Ryman Auditorium or Convention Center. Keep your eyes peeled at all times, you might see someone famous! Nash-ville is the place to be this June, so join us at CKIx this summer! •

Hey Ya’ll! I am April Ford the host chair and I am so ex-cited to welcome you to Nashville! We have just a few teaser points for this great city and we have many more once you arrive. Hope to see you in June!

Some of the must see in Nashville include:

Country Music Hall of Fame: Country Music- the music that put Nashville on the map! It is located just a short drive from the Loews! Even if you are not a fan of country music- this place has something for everyone, it truly shows how music can shape a city! Admission rates for Country Music Hall of Fame is 24.99 and it is one of the best bargains in all of Nashville!

Belle Meade Planation is a historic southern planation that is located just 11 minutes from the Loews Hotel. Admis-sion rates for this awesome historic site is 16 dollars (USD) and it is well worth the price!

The Hermitage: the Home of President Andrew Jack-son, is the historic home site located about 20 minutes outside the city, but it well worth the pretty drive out there. Often times in Nashville you will hear things re-ferred to as “Old Hickory” and that was Jackson’s nick-name and if you visit his planation you will see why. Best part is that if you bring your convention name tag you will get 2 dollars of the general admission price of 19 dollars. Bring your walking shoes!

Two great restaurants that are located near our hotel is Jack’s BBQ which was awesome southern cooking and food! Hattie B’s Famous Hot Fried Chicken is also near and has been on the Trav-el Channel several times.
