Visit www.Geaux-Perio.com. Our website was developed with the
needs of the busy periodontist in mind. The site features a board
re-certification module which will save the busy periodontist
many hours by not having to find the ABP’s reading references on
their own. Journal Club abstracts from current articles of interest
pertaining to our specialty are presented and uploaded on a regular
basis. Check it out. Full access is available to alumni donors.
2019 Show ’N Tell At this year's Show and Tell, we were treated to an
outstanding presentation by Dr. Rodrigo Nieva.
Dr. Neiva earned his Certificate and Master's de-
gree in Periodontics from the University of Michi-
gan, School of Dentistry. Dr. Neiva serves as the
Director of the Graduate Program in Periodontics at
the University of Florida - College of Dentistry. He is
active in clinical research related to bone and soft
tissue augmentation, as well as novel techniques in
Implant and Periodontal Therapy. Dr. Neiva has
published many scientific papers and book chapters
in the fields of Periodontics and Oral Implantology.
Dr. Neiva treated us to a fabulous 3 hour
presentation titled, “Dealing with deficient alveolar
ridges: Current Options.”
After lunch, the graduating residents and implant
fellows gave presentations of their work while
training at LSU School of Dentistry. Their presen-
tations were followed by a wine and cheese
reception for all participants to mingle.
Show ’N Tell is an annual function which is un-
derwritten by The R. Jack & Mary Louise Cassing-
ham Endowed Chair in Periodontics. If you have
not attended one of our recent Show ’N Tell events make plans to do so. It is great way to reconnect with the dental school,
our perio faculty and to come back to New Orleans to enjoy some of the nation’s best dining venues. We will send a “Save
the Date” announcement as soon as plans are finalized for next year’s event

Through the years, numerous alumni of our residency program have contributed to our department on a regular basis and
at a high level. The LSU School of Dentistry deeply appreciates the steadfast support of our donors. Numerous individuals
have stepped up with generous contributions.
Contributions to our LSU Health Foundation Perio Research and Education Fund go directly toward activities supporting
our resident education, such as attending The AAP and The Southwest Society of Periodontists Annual Meeting for third
year students and funding their research. Contributions to The Perio Support Fund are unrestricted and help the Depart-
ment Chairman take care of immediate needs for the whole department. Naturally, we appreciate all of our donors. We
would like to recognize the following individuals for their exceptionally high level of support.
Drs. Kathy Abbott, Damon Bradford, Roger Craddock, Nora Delgado-Velasquez, Cynthia Deragon, Gerald Evans,
Gary Dewitt, Marty Garrett, Monroe Howell, John Legleu, Tom Mabry, Chuck McCabe, Georgia McDonald, Tom
McNeely, Ron Monica (deceased), Hisham Nasr and Ana Saenz, Kris Owens, Bryan Pearson, Murry Rabalais,

At the present time, we are shooting for a level in our Research and Education Fund where the State of Louisiana will
provide a match, such that our fund becomes an endowed fund. At that time it will spin off regular proceeds to support resi-
dent education. We are only $30K short of the match level due to your prior generous contributions. Please keep this goal
in mind. As always, we deeply appreciate and need your continued support! To contribute, click here.
We also wish to thank our corporate sponsors for their generous support of our Advanced Education in Periodontics pro-
gram. Their contributions, whether it be materials and equipment, financial, or advanced clinical training, have enabled us to

Did You Know……. LSU Perio is one of only two residency programs offering
comprehensive training in microsurgery? Our residents train side by side with
periodontists who have years of experience using microscopes in periodontal
procedures. The residents complete several table top procedures and then are able
to render this important service in our clinic. Our clinic is equipped with three Global
Surgical microscopes.
