This is a documentary about volunteers. We considered
that the volunteers are unknown heroes in Taiwan. The
formal film is a short documentary. In addition, we also
filmed five short pieces about individual organizations
we visited. In the individual organizations parts, you can
better understand what they are doing and what they
want to do for Taiwan.

Our Design Process
In the same city, and the same 24 hour period,
but the differences are in what they choose to
devote themselves to.
VOLUNTEERS OF CITY is a documentary about
volunteers in five different areas, who are all
willing to spend their time attempting to care for
people, animals or the environment in Taiwan.
They whole heartedly do their jobs to help and
hope that Taiwan will be better. As designers,
our responsibility is recording by film, in this way
we interpret what we have seen and experi-
enced. Moreover, we hope to make people
moved by this film and hope to pass through the
spirit of documentary, VOLUNTEERS OF CITY.
At the beginning, we had trouble in using the
video camera. This was our first time to try
designing a documentary. We were not familiar
with our equipment, therefore, when we saw our
first shoot on the computer; it was not in line with
our expectations. After this experience, we
started not only to learn more about our device
but also to see a lot of video to improve our
perception, and hoped it would help us to able to
take better frames.
During shooting this documentary, the most
difficult things were choosing the right organiza-
tions and how to make people affected by our
film. We think the most important part of doing
our documentary is to make people feel
touched by it, only in this way, will our film be
meaningful.
The theme of our shooting covers five volunteer
groups from different areas. We did a lot of
trade-offs to present the formal film within
three minutes, and let people understand this
story in the shortest time. It is not usual to do a
three-minute documentary, however, we did
our best to change a long story into a condensed
film and splicing it made it more powerful.
Hard work does pay, as we finally finished the
film and we were all proud of our work. It was a
great lesson for me to better understand about
the importance of teamwork and clearly know
that design is a potent medium for moving
people’s hearts, changing their opinions and thus
making the world a better place.

captures of interactive flash exhibition
The five different kinds of postcard have two sides, each with two photo-
graphs and a topic. The postcards we designed were printed on trans-
parent sheet, so that it has a gloss on it. Although it was our first attempt,
the results were pretty good.
In order to introduce details of the five different volunteer
units in the exhibition, we designed an interactive flash
menu, which contained detailed referral concepts and
entire individual organizations with videos. Audiences are
able to gain a more in-depth understanding about volun-
teer organizations from this interactive flash presenter in
our exhibit.

Exhibition
Working on VOLUNTEERS OF CITY from scratch,
from simple information into a complete work
presented in the exhibition, and the sense of
accomplishment we gained in the process cannot
be put into words. When we explained to the
audiences in the exhibition, they gave us some
support and encouragement at the same time,
and even provided more information to us and
shared their own experiences. These interactions
have increased the value of this work VOLUN-
TEERS OF CITY, and let us have the power to move
forward. Although tired, the four-day exhibition
was really worthwhile. Thanks to the help of our
instructor, friends, classmates, and all of the
volunteers in our film.

What Matters To You
Story
Character Design
There are many things to worry about in our mind, and what
matters to you?
I thought about the answer to this question for a long time,
and finally decided to follow my mental initial thoughts. I
think my family is what I care about most. In any case, your
family is your best patron.
First draft

I hope that this story will show the most pure feelings, so I designed my character with just simple lines. I think simple lines make the audience pay more attention to what you mean.

This is a story about photography. A man, who

Chunhua Perfume Creative Thinking
In the beginning, I did market
research. I collected a lot of commer-
cial perfume bottles, and classified
each according to their color and
bottle curve. The results showed that
the bottle with the round shape and
the elegant color are more popular
than other kinds.
I chose round as the starting point for the design. I also chose the Oriental sense of window grilles. I think the windows
are associated with buildings inside and outside and the window grilles let pedestrians passing by stop to admire its
beautiful pattern. Just as perfume not only adds color between people, but also makes a good impression.

Poster DesignWe are like light bulbs; heat and light for our lives. Things
you care about will shine because of you. So shine for the
important things in you. There is something important to us in our mind and we always think of it.
Just like we get a key, and always lock in our hearts.
However, we are locked by it, too.

Unconcerned Poster Design
When no life robot can beg, so will you choose a clean but no
life robots, or dirty but living beggar?
The idea of this poster is from a design of a begging robot
which I had seen at an exhibition in Taipei Fine Arts Museum.
The artist makes a begging robot with a recycled computer,
and photographed the reactions of passers-by on the robot.
As we can imagine, the technology robot attracted people’s
attention but not the real beggar. I think the community
might be too cold in how it treats people, and we are too
believing in the technology we have.

CHARACTER DESIGN
Character of 85°C cafe The Initial Role Setting
This is a work of design for a character for a business or a shop. I choose
85°C café as my object. 85°C café is a cafe and bakery specializing in
coffee, cakes, and breads. Each cup of coffee is brewed individually, and
at affordable prices.
Think of 85°C café, freshly brewed coffee and delicious cake first come up
in my mind, and the warm-feeling and comfortable environment are also
the impression it gives me. So I use sheep as the protagonist since most
people also feel warm and comfortable about sheep. Sheep wool’s
texture is like cream and can be used in both the coffee and cake. It
means the roles and the product can be more closely related.

Each character has a different personality represent different flavors of coffee or cake.

Line Show Studio Website
This is a website which I designed for “Line
Show Studio” when I did internship there.
Most of the service segments of this studio
are from the medical industry, so I designed
this website with gray color. I think this could
make viewers feel more comfortable and
more professional about the studio.
Homepage
The middle part of the picture will be transformed by
the slide, and the right side of the classified options
can be clicked in order to see other works, and the left
side of the classification in order to switch the tap.
Clicking on the right side of the image above the
classification option, and small pictures on the top
right will appear. You can click those small pictures to
see more from the works. You can also use the right
two round left and right options to make the screen
rotation broadcasting work.

Max Life Newsletter
This newsletter is used to provide "Max Life" members monthly
information. I designed 7 types of version, and they were very satis-
fied with all the design. I tried a lot of different styles to produce
these newsletters, and it was very interesting.
