1. Grease lubrication – Hub bearing
1.1 Grease quality:
���� This List of lubricants TE-ML 12 will be updated every three months and can be requested,
resp. inspected as follows:
- At all ZF-Plants
- At all ZF-Service Stations
- Internet http://www.zf.com - Products for /Techn. Informationen
1.2 Maintenance works:
After 500 000 km, however at least renew the grease every two years and check the
tapered roller bearings!
These maintenance works must be carried out in this period, except this is done in
connection with other repairs!
1.3 Wheel hub with Brake disk:
Legend:
1 = Steering knuckle
2 = Shaft seal
3 = Cassette type sealing

Remove
1 Remove wheel hubs (5).
2 Take the grease out of the wheel hubs (5),
clean wheel hub and tapered roller bearings
compl. (4, 6).
���� Take only the inner races of the tapered
roller bearings out of the wheel hub !
Install
3 Check condition and wear of tapered roller
bearings – inner and outer race (4, 6). ���� Renew worn or damaged tapered roller
bearings in pairs.
We recommend to renew both tapered
roller bearings !
4 Grease tapered roller bearings (4, 6) amply
through and fill wheel hub (5) as well as
cover (11) with the prescribed quantity of
grease.
5 Filling capacity per wheel hub 180 g.
6 Install wheel hub. ����
Mount new shaft seal ring (2), cassette
type sealing (3) and sealing (10).
���� All steps, resp. adjustment values, required for the disassembly and assembly, have to be
taken from the relative Repair Manual !
2. Grease lubrication – Steering knuckle / Control arm
2.1 Lubricating interval:
After 80 000 – 90 000 km each, resp. 1x yearly
2.2 Grease quality with following properties (Analysis Data):
���� On the grease-lubricating points, a lithium soaped, mineral oil miscible multipurpose
grease of the NLGI-Class 2 has to be used (grease marking KP2K-30 according to
DIN 51825 resp. ISO-L-XCCHB2 according to ISO/DIS 6743-9).
