The project

Rainman's Home is a day-care centre for autistic

young people. The aim of this organisation is to

propose appropriate activities and favour integration

It includes mainly the distribution of school kits, psychological support to children and the development of educational activities.

The project

Since 2009, Schneider Electric has dedicated a three

year programme to supporting impoverished students

who have migrated from the country side to

metropolitan areas to undertake a two-year electrical

training course at Bai Nian Vocational School, the first

completely tuition free vocational education institution

in China. Schneider Electric has donated equipments

to establish electrical lab and provided training courses

to the students.

By 2011, the number of beneficiaries has reached 394

students from 5 schools in 5 cities (Beijing, Chengdu,

Zhengzhou, Wuhan and Nanjing).

students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Solar Bottle Bulb is based on the

principles of Appropriate Technologies – a concept that provides simple and easily replicable

technologies that address basic needs in developing communities.

The project

Tremblant’s 24 hours of skiing brings together sports

activists and philanthropists for a ski marathon every

December. A team of 12 Schneider Electric Canada

employees participate in this race. These 12 people will ski

for 24 hours to collect funds in support of three charities: the

Tremblant Foundation, the Charles Bruneau Cancer

Research Foundation and the Ottawa Senators Foundation.

The project

80-hour training programme for underprivileged young people.

The course named “Introdução a eletricidade básica

residencial” provides an introduction to elementary residential

electricity. It is taught on nights and weekends and aims at

approaching technical concepts and new technologies with

regard to electric installation and safety. Themes as ethics and

citizenship complement the module.

All employees and their relatives can act as volunteering using a new website. It is an interactive portal where NGOs, charities or Schneider Electric employees who volunteer in an charity can:• ask for financial support from the Instituto Schneider Electric• propose volunteering missions to other Schneider Electric employees• communicate on their projects and share experience with other volunteers

BrazilRio floods mobilization campaign | Denise Lana Molina

The project

• A local emergency action and a

reconstruction project in Rio de Janeiro after

the floods in January 2011

• Donation of products to help farmers in the

impacted area re-start their activities

• Employees of all sites participated by

donating emergency supplies and needs

• The donations were distributed by Schneider

Electric volunteers who came to Teresópolis

(100km far from Schneider Electric branch to

ensure that the donations reached their

destination).

The project

After supporting the school’s library reconstruction, the 2011 project aims to improve the electrical installation and the lighting for the library, the classrooms and the corridors. Schneider Electric Chile will also donate furniture to the canteen.

youth in Antofagasta. The centre provides 2-year

foundation training courses for technicians in

Maintenance of Industrial Automated Systems,

leading to an advanced vocational diploma.

• To provide scholarships and material support for

the centre.


ChileCEDUC Lebu | Gloria Cerda

The project

Training centre dedicated to underprivileged young

people which provides 2-year training courses in

Maintenance of Industrial Automated Systems,

leading to an advanced vocational diploma.

Furthermore, because Lebu is located in the

Chilean region that suffered the earthquake of 27th

February 2010, Schneider Electric Chile decided to

increase its material support for the renovation of

local electrical wiring.

The project

• Trainings in electrical trades and industrial automation (Centre

for Electricity, Electronics and Telecommunications in Bogotá

and in the Industrial Technology Development Centre in

Barrancabermeja)

• To provide material and technical training sponsorships

through modern teaching equipment (variable frequency drivers,

educational equipments, low and medium voltage cells...)

• To support SENA and the French Ministry of Education for the

creation of courses adapted to the realities of the local labour

market.

The project

• To involve all Schneider Electric Peru employees in the

constructions of 11 transitional (prefabricated wooden)

houses in teams of 8 people for each house during a 2-

day work in an area without grid connection

• To equip the houses with 2 In-Diya 90 LEDs kits (PV

panel + battery + light) each and get them installed by

the Schneider Electric Peru team

• To explore the possibility to extend the use of In-Diya

kits to other settlements, making them available through

micro-credits.

people in Douala and its surrounding areas.

• To introduce an electrician's training module within the Foyers

Saint-Nicodème, a chain of homes for children taken off the

streets

• To support training programmes on electricity in buildings and

automation systems at the De La Salle CVTC

The project

A three-year partnership deal with the ISTAC in

order to support the training of technicians and

engineers in electrical trades and industrial

maintenance, in two training centres. Further

Education training leading to a diploma (BTS) is

based at Pointe Noire in the Republic of Congo

and degree level training takes place at Douala in

Cameroon. This partnership is part of the

continued aid offered to the ISTAC, since its

creation in 2002, by the Schneider Electric

Foundation.

The project

• To improve professional training in the building trade, and

to train 2000 young people by 2012 for them to be actors of

the reconstruction of their country (after the damage

caused by the 2010 earthquake).

• To support the financing of educational facilities for the

centres and offer scholarships for the most disadvantaged

students + to offer support and expertise in the field of

electricity by providing with electricity the laboratories of the

training centres, the twenty satellite centres and an

additional mobile unit.

• Underprivileged boys from 17 to 25 years old

The project

To collect blankets, clothes and non-perishable items that will be donated to the Oliver’s House charity organization for distribution to a local underprivileged community – the Zenzele Informal Settlement in

Daveyton – through its “Zenzele Feeding Program.”
