A Message from the Pastor ~ Un Mensaje del Párroco Come, Lord Jesus

As Catholics we know that the most powerful prayer we possess is the most holy sacrifice of the Mass. However, we do pray outside of the Mass. Maybe we pray in the morning or prior to heading to bed? Many of us use different words to pray for help, guidance, protection, mercy and much more. No matter how we pray, when we pray, or what we pray for, the words “come, Lord Jesus”, fall from our lips. Each time we communicate with Jesus in prayer we are asking him to enter into every aspect of our lives. Furthermore, each time we ask him to “come” and be present, he does. When Jesus comes we need to be ready to accept him. For example, have we ever prayed for something only to be disappointed not to have received it? Do we look to receive Jesus who enlightens us with His father will or do we seek our own selfish wants and desires? This past week we celebrated two great feast days of the Blessed Virgen Mary: the solemnity of the Immac-ulate Conception and the feast day of Our Lady of Gua-dalupe. When we meditate on the most pure mother of God who was conceived without the stain of sin we gaze upon a woman who always prayed using the words “come, Lord’. When he came she was ready to receive all that came from him. She wasn't selfish, on the contrary, she was selfless and sought to give her life totally to God. Mary proclaims at hearing the voice of God through the angel Gabriel, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.” Mary became a slave of the Lord, and this self abandon-ment to the will of God was the source of her joy. This Sunday we celebrate the third Sunday of Ad-vent also known as GAUDETE SUNDAY. This is a joy-ful Sunday because we know that the coming of Jesus is imminent. Are we ready to receive all that he has to offer? Even if we are not, never fear, God is never done work-ing in us. Happy Gaudete Sunday!

Ven, Seúor Jesús Como católicos, sabemos que el más poderoso oración que tenemos es el sacrificio de la santa Misa. Sin embargo, rezamos fuera de la Misa. ¿Tal vez rezamos por la mañana o antes de acostarnos? Muchos de nosotros utilizamos palabras diferentes para orar por ayuda, orientación, protección, misericordia y mucho más. No importa cómo oremos, ni cuándo oremos ni por qué oramos, las palabras “ven Señor Jesús, caen de nuestros labios”. Cada vez que comunicamos con Jesús en oración, le pedimos que entre en todos los aspectos de nuestras vidas. Además, cada vez que le pedimos que "venga" y estar presente, lo hace. Cuando Jesús venga, debemos estar listos para aceptarlo. Por ejemplo, ¿alguna vez hemos orado por algo solo para estar decepcionados de no haberlo recibido? ¿Esperamos recibir a Jesús que nos ilumina con la voluntad de su padre o buscamos nuestros propios deseos y deseos egoístas? La semana pasada celebramos dos grandes días de fiesta de la Santísima Virgen María: la solemnidad de la Inmaculada Concepción y el día de la fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Cuando meditamos en la madre de Dios, quien fue concebida sin la mancha del pecado, contemplamos en una mujer que siempre oraba usando las palabras "Ven, Señor". Cuando él vino, ella estaba lista para recibir todo lo que vino de él. Ella no era egoísta, por el contrario, era desinteresada y buscaba entregar su vida totalmente a Dios. María proclama al escuchar la voz de Dios a través del ángel Gabriel: “Yo soy la esclava del Señor". María se convirtió en esclava del Señor, y este abandono a la voluntad de Dios fue la fuente de su alegría. Este domingo celebramos el tercer domingo de Adviento, también conocido como GAUDETE DOMINGO. Es un domingo de alegria porque sabemos que la venida de Jesús es inminente. ¿Estamos listos para recibir todo lo que tiene ofrecernos? Si no lo somos, nunca temas, Dios nunca termina de trabajar en nosotros. ¡Feliz Gaudete Domingo!

All toys will be donated to “HOPE FOR US INC.” This organization serves children with sickle cell anemia and Other infirmities. Thank you for your kindness.
