LUSTRE CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL Volume 13, Issue 3
October 9, 2015
Pastor Frank Le-
nihan came to our
school and gave a
speech in chapel on
September 24.
When the stu-
dent entered
the chapel
r o o m , w e
found a piece
of paper on
each chair. Af-
ter singing
with the wor-
ship team, Pastor
Frank asked us to
write down the
names of our best
friend. Then he
started to ask us
about the qualities
we think a good
friend should
have. But he
reminded us
that we lived in
a broken world
with broken re-
lationships by
telling a story
about him and
his friend argu-
ing about who
should wash the
dishes.
And then, the
symptoms of a bro-
ken friendship were
shown on his Pow-
erPoint, such as
avoidance, irritabil-
ity, silence, and
acts against each
other. In order to
repair broken rela-
t i o ns h i p s , we
looked at how Je-
sus reconciles the
relationships be-
tween God the Fa-
ther and us. He
loved (1 John 4:9-
10); he humbled

Bright and early on
Wednesday, the
23rd of September,
the students were
all invited to meet
at the LCHS flag
pole. “See you at
the Pole” is a prayer
gathering for stu-
dents to get togeth-
er before school
and send up a cou-
ple prayers along
with other Chris-
tian communities
all around the
world. Students are
encouraged to take
this time of prayer
for their families,
friends, countries,
and communities.

Lady Lions Have Busy Week By: Jason Toavs
The Lady Lions volleyball
team had a busy weekend
starting on the
24th traveling to
Wolf Point to
play their JV
team. After los-
ing the first
match 25-13
they came back
in the second match and
won 25-19. Unfortunately
though, after a hard fight,
the ladies lost the final
match 25-17. Then the next
day the Lions hosted
Nashua for the first
home game of the sea-
son. It was a good
game but the Lady li-
ons ended up losing 3
out of 4 close matches.
After traveling all the
way to Whitewater the fol-
lowing day the Lady Lions
fought hard but ended up
losing three matches in a
row. They were back at
home on the 28th battling
the Glasgow Scottie’s JV.
There were three close
matches, but unfortunately
they resulted with the Scot-
ties on top all three times.
The season isn’t over yet.
Keep fighting, Lady Lions!

though only 10 students
and staff attended this
event, God does promise to
be in the presence of his
foods for breakfast for a
time of fellowship. Even

first meeting in 1990 only
had 10 attendees also.
Christianity and Islam are
the same but they do a few
things differently. Diane
and Spencer strive to show
the Muslim’s the true Word
and introduce them to Je-
sus. Diane spoke about how
much she had changed
since Spencer first men-
tioned going overseas. Diane
informed the LCHS students
of how important it was to
step out of your comfort
zone and how great it was
when she finally decided to
follow God’s calling. Diane
and Spencer really enjoy
what they do! They encour-
aged the students to do
their part wherever they are.
There are people in need
everywhere and not just in
other countries. You can do
your part wherever you are,
so don’t be afraid to try your
best and just be you.
LCHS had a crazy Monday
this week because Chapel
was presented on Monday
instead of Thursday. Our
guest speakers were mis-
sionaries Spencer and Di-
ane; Spencer and Diane’s
mission field is in central
Asia focusing on the Islamic
faith. The Muslim’s believe
in the Koran which tells the
Muslims to read the Bible
and follow the teachings of
Jesus. Muslims believe that

friends we want to reconcile
with, and the situation.
In the end of the story of
Pastor Frank and his
friends, Pastor Frank went
back to his friend, said sorry
to him, and helped him with
the dishes. We’ll always find
that our friends and us be-
(Philippians 2:8); he suffered
(1 Peter 3:18); he invited us
to be reconciled (2 Corinthi-
an 5:17-19); he forgave
(Ephesians 4:32). Pastor
Frank also reminded us to
pray for ourselves, the
(Continued from page 1) come closer after the rela-
tionships has been repaired.
The last and the most im-
portant is Jesus wants to be
your best friend and he
wants you to reconcile with
the Father. Have you ac-
cepted it?
Friendship
Her nickname back home
is J-Quelen, but the stu-
dents at LCHS all
know her as Jackie.
Jacqueline Garchito-
rena is a sophomore
coming to us from
Kodiak, Alaska. For
those that don’t
know where the Kodiak Is-
land is located, it’s an is-
land that sits just south of
the Alaskan coast. Jackie
says that the thing she loves
most about Lustre is how
the people have been so
welcoming . When
asked what she
misses most
about home, she
said, “I miss my
mom, friends,
and my dog.” When
she has her head-
phones in, you can
bet that she’s either listen-
ing to One Direction or
Hoodie Allen, two of her fa-
vorite artists. Her favorite
class at this point is choir,
and she loves any type
of food with pasta in it!
This fun, lovable soph-
omore is someone that
you definitely want to
get to know!
