THANK YOU
A big thank you to all who donated food and volunteered to help with the Turkey Commercial Fundraiser. It was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who has donated to the tuck pointing project. We have raised all of the funds needed to cover the cost. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Here is the recipe for the salad that several people asked for.
Cranberry Applesauce Salad

You may be re-ceiving a phone call anyway!!
Remember to turn your clock back one hour on Sat. Nov. 5th so you are on time for church on Sunday the 6th!!

The final nominations will also be voted on at the November voters meeting.
FOOD SHELF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We are looking for someone who would be will-ing to volunteer to help with the Food Shelf. Our church is responsible to help fill orders as needed 2 months out of the year. If you are inter-ested in helping, contact Yvonne Hanks or Pastor Sabol.

October 19, 2016 Council Meeting Recap
Meeting was called to order by Chairman, Herb Pederson. Ten members present. Opening prayer by Deacon, Jason Meinert.
Secretary’s minutes of the September 21 council meeting were presented and approved. Treasurer, Kim Wendt and Financial Secretary, Don Selvig presented their reports. Items were discussed and approved.
Don reported that we have paid the tuck pointing project in full, $18,240.00. Funds received the day of the fund raiser dinner totaled $3,005.00. Of this amount $1,435.00 was given over and above the price of the meal. Approximately 135 dinners were served and $550.00 has been received since the day of the event. Total funds received as of October 18, 2016 is $18,645.00. The tuck pointing contract cost is $18,240.00. The additional funds received will be used for repair work on the bell tower sheet metal trim and window sill repairs on the church. Thanks to everyone.
Deacons had nothing to report at this time.
Trustees discussed minor projects that need attention. Trustee, Dick Royer was given permission to replace an Air Dryer on the heating system. This has not been replaced since the church was built in 1968. Cost estimated to be $2,500.00. We are having some water leaking problems at the parsonage. Dick Royer will be checking this out and make suggestions on what we may do to correct it.
Board of Education: We are in need of part time teachers.
Pastor’s Comments:
Pastor presented a “Proposal for Monthly Mission Door Offering” every month; the congregation of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior would designate a mission to support. The mission organization or per-son would be invited to share information in the monthly newsletter and weekly bulletins. On the 3rd Sunday of the month, a door offering would be held on behalf of the mission. If appropriate, they would also be invited to share personally at the end of the service or to participate in the service. This would replace the 3rd Sunday MNS District mission door offering. This program should give us options for specific missions that would reflect the wishes of our congregation locally and outside of our communi-ty. Voters approved.
Pastor asked for permission to ask Genesis Classical Academy students to sing at a service. Voters ap-proved.
Old Business:
Tuck point project completed, church contents inventory 40% completed. Pastor will video all areas inside church to give more documentation as to what we have.
Kim Wendt has completed placing all the confirmation pictures into an album which is now located at the south end of the coat rack in the narthex. Pictures of the more recent confirmands are on the end of the coat rack. Thanks Kim.
New Business:
Vice Chairman, Jeremiah Schutt presented the “Proposed Budget for 2017”. Proposed budget total, $128,550. Budget for 2016 is $129,925. This proposed budget will be presented at the November 16th voters meeting for discussion, revision and approval.
Jeremiah presented the proposed slate of council members for 2017. All positions are open. Members of the congregation that have an interest to be on the council may contact Jeremiah. Nominations will be open until we vote on the candidates at the November 16th voters meeting.
Other Business:
The Meinert family has donated some furniture that will be used to replace some of the worn out furniture in the “cry room”. We will be installing a speaker in the room so that persons using the room may be able to hear what is going on in the sanctuary. Pastor suggested that we make the room more family friendly so we may use it for meetings with families and others.Voters approved.
Jeremiah reported that the organ is not working. Cost of repair about $2,500.00. Voters approved.
I feel we need to organize a committee to start making plans as to what we need to do to keep our con-gregation viable in the future. This group will be meeting in January. Please contact me if you have an interest or questions. We need this to be larger than a group of one.
Meeting closed with The Lord’s Prayer.
Herb Pederson, Congregation Chairman
“Ask and You Shall Receive”
I am sure you have all heard this statement many times. At the January 17, 2016 Annual Meeting the Voters gave permission to the council to move forward on a much needed tuck pointing project on our church build-ing.
The combined efforts of prayer, many direct monetary contributions and a very well organized fund raiser din-ner by LWML Special Events Committee and the willingness of congregation members that donated food and labor we as a congregation were able to pay for this project without borrowing money. The project was suc-cessfully completed in October, 2016. The bid price was $18,240.00. We as a congregation should be proud that we were guided to come together to support our Faith in the Lord. We as members of your church council THANK YOU for your efforts.
Herb Pederson, Congregation Chairman
