testing the Assembly electionfrom the newly created con-stituency of Virugambakkam.

K. Dhanasekaran is theDMK candidate. His main ri-val is B. Parthasarathy of theDMDK.

Dhanakesekaran has beenthe Ward Councillor of Divi-sion 130 since 2001 and WardCommittee Chairman of Zone9 since 2006.

The constituency comprisesCorporation Divisions 128,129, 130, 131 (MGR Nagar,Nesapakkam, Jafferkhan-

pet, parts of K. K. Nagar andnearby areas) and 65 (Koyam-bedu).

While Division 128 was ear-lier in T. Nagar constituency,Divisions 129 to 131 cameunder Alandur constituencyand Division 65 was inVillivakkam constituency.

There are 2,03,065 voters inthe newly formed constitu-ency.

The other candidates in thefray are V. Subramanyam(Bahujana Samaj Party), P.Sritharan (BJP), A. Baskaran(Puratchi Bharatham) and 5independents.

Triplicane in the present As-sembly, is contesting this timefrom Tiruvarur where his main

rival is Kodavasal M. Ra-jendran (AIA DMK).

There are 17 other candi-dates in the fray in T. Nagarconstituency.

They include K. Nagadas(Bahujana Samaj Party), K.Ravichandran (BJP), G. Sa-rada (Indhiya JananayagaKatchi), B. Prabhakaran (Jha-rkhand Mukti Morcha) and G.Purushothaman (Social UnityCentre). All the remaining 12candidates are independents.
